Chandigarh, July 11: A delegation from the Czech Republic led by Ambassador to India Dr. Eliska Zigova called upon the Punjab Governor and Administrator UT, Chandigarh Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit at the Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh in order to discuss the avenues to strengthen socio, political, economic, cultural and scientific ties between Punjab & Czech Republic
The Governor during the meeting said that India has diverse social and cultural traditions right from south to north, from dhoti in South India to different shades & styles of turban in Northern states especially Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
The Governor further said that people of Punjab are not only brave but also very hard working who yield 2-3 crops a year. The land of Punjab is not just known for religious tourism but has great potential for eco tourism too, said the Governor. He also asked the visiting delegation to spend a night at Nangal Dam to enjoy the natural beauty of this region and work on avenues to collaborate in the area of eco tourism.
Czech Republic Ambassador to India Dr. Eliska Zigova briefed the governor that the recent visits of Czech Republic’s Prime Minister Petr Fiala and Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský to India, led to the signing of the Strategic Partnership on Innovation, Sciences, and Technology.
She further added that they are actively working to foster a ‘sister-city’ relationship between Prague and Chandigarh.
