CHANDIGARH, 28.01.25-The department of music of GGDSD College filled the air with melodies of Indian classical music as they played host to the esteemed Dr. Avinash Kumar, a gold medalist in music and A-grade artist for All India Radio. On January 28th, 2025, Dr. Kumar conducted a masterclass workshop on the *topic: Interrelation between instrumental and vocal music*,delving into the intricate relationship between स्वर (melody), ताल (rhythm), and नृत्य (dance).

A highly acclaimed musician, composer, and educator, Dr. Avinash Kumar has been recognized with numerous awards and honors for his contributions to Indian classical music. As an A-grade artist for All India Radio, he has performed extensively across the country and abroad.

Dr. Kumar's session was a symphony of knowledge, expertise, and passion, leaving the students enchanted and inspired. As he guided them through the nuances of Indian classical music and dance, the students gained a rare glimpse into the world of a master musician.

Students from the BA and PhD programs in Music and college students from various disciplines attended the workshop.

The college principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma, warmly welcomed Dr. Avinash Kumar and expressed gratitude for his presence. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, Head of the Music Department.
