Chandigarh, January 6—Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today paid surprise visit in Karnal and inspected various development works worth crores of rupees in the district. He also instructed the concerned officers to speed up the development works, without any negligence.

He said that there was no shortage of funds for the development works. The Chief Minister first inspected the work of bypass being constructed at the cost of about Rs 57 crore from near Karna Lake to Kaithal Road Bridge. The bypass would be of about 6. 30 km long and its construction would provide relief from traffic jam. He said that the underpass being constructed on the railway line would also be completed by February.

He also inspected the new bus stand being constructed in Karnal at the cost of about Rs 8.49 crore.  The construction of first phase of bus stand is 98 per cent complete. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that the bus stand becomes functional by February and also initiate city bus service in Karnal city.
