DGP holds State Level crime review meeting

Chandigarh, June 14 – Director General of Police, Haryana, Mr Manoj Yadava asked the Police officers to adopt result-oriented strategy to prevent crime and deter criminal elements in our society.

The DGP was presiding over a meeting of the District Police Chiefs and other senior Police officers to review the crime situation in the state at Madhuban Police Complex today.

In the meeting, he directed the officers to curb crime, gangster activities, prevent smuggling of illicit weapons, arrest the absconders and solve pending cases at the earliest. The district SPs and CPs should be more pro-active and crime should be curbed in all circumstances. In addition, he also directed them to adopt zero tolerance to crime against women in the state.

He also informed that priorities for the Police for elimination of drug menace have already been settled by establishing Anti-Narcotics Cell at State, Range and District levels in the state. These cells would certainly put an effective control on drug-peddlers in the state.

The DGP also said that he was proud to lead a force which had competent officers and hardworking men, who had ensured the conduct of peaceful General Elections recently and further directions to make elaborate arrangements for maintaining law and order in the run up to the State assembly elections.

The meeting was attended by DGP Crime Mr P.K. Agrawal, ADGP Law and Order, Mr Navdeep Singh Virk and other senior officers of the Police Department.

219 boxes of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) siezed in Panipat district,

Chandigarh, June 14 – Haryana Police has seized 219 boxes of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Panipat district, which was being smuggled in a truck.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Police Department said that Police has arrested driver of the truck and helper, who have been identified as Sahzad and Kamru, both resident of district Muzzafarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The seized liquor was being smuggled to Bihar.

He said that a police team got secret information that a truck (bearing UP registration number) carrying illicit liquor concealed under soap boxes is going towards Delhi from Karnal side. After getting a tip-off, the team immediately swung into action and signaled a truck at a naka to stop. After seeing the Police, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tries to run away. Police chased the vehicle, stopped it at a short distance and arrested both accused. On checking the vehicle, 219 boxes of IMFL hidden under soap boxes were recovered.

During preliminary interrogation, accused revealed that they were carrying seized liquor from Karnal to Bihar for smuggling. A case under relevant sections of IPC and Excise Act had been registered against the accused. Both were taken on remand by producing them in the Court.

Mrs. Nidhi Sharma, Deputy Superintendent has been promoted to the post of Superintendent and Narinder Singh, Accountant has been promoted to the post of Superintendent (District Cadre).

NON OFFICIAL MEMBER

Chandigarh, June 14 – Haryana Government has removed the name of Ashok Vats as non-official member from the membership of District Public Relations and Grievances Committee, Kurukshetra, with immediate effect.

While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification has been issued in this regard by the Grievances Department.

Chandigarh, June 14 – Speaker, Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Kanwar Pal has accepted the resignation of MLA from 40-Fatehabad Assembly Constituency, Mr. Balwan Singh Daulatpuria.

As a notification issued by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, consequent upn the acceptance of the resignation of Balwan Singh Daulatpuria, the seat of 40-Fatehabad Assembly Constituency has fallen vacant with effect from June 6, 2019.

State Government is committed to developing a conducive environment for the Startup ecosystem and promotion of Entrepreneurial Education in Colleges and Universities in the State.

Chandigarh, June 14 – Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that the State Government is committed to developing a conducive environment for the Startup ecosystem and promotion of Entrepreneurial Education in Colleges and Universities in the State. In this direction, the Higher Education Department would launch an Annual Startup Competition – Startup Pratiyogita (SUPRATI) in colleges and universities across the state. The shortlisted students or teams will be awarded with Rs five lakh of seed money in state level function.

Mr. Sharma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, the Central Government has taken several steps to encourage the Entrepreneurial-Ecosystem in the country so that there is economic growth in India and new opportunities for employment can be created. He said that the State Government is also preparing the environment for the startup-ecosystem in the state to take forward the vision of the Prime Minister. In order to encourage and cooperate with the entrepreneurs, the State Government has started the Haryana Entrepreneur and Startup Policy-2017.

He said that the department has come up with policy of setting up incubators in Colleges and Universities across the state to ignite the passion for Entrepreneurship amongst Higher Education students and helped them in identifying and developing their entrepreneurial skills and making them self-reliant.

Mr. Sharma said that the Department has proposed to launch the Startup Pratiyogita (SUPRATI) from July 2019 in 31 Centers of Excellence Government Colleges in the first phase. The implementation will be done in four phases. In the first phase, the official announcement will be made in the third week of June 2019 followed by awareness workshops. Similarly, in the second phase, the deadline for idea submission will be last week of July and selection will be done in first week of August. He said that in third phase, the submission for final evaluation will be done in second week of August and finalists will be selected in third week of August. The State Level Award Ceremony will be held in the last week of August, he added.

The Education Minister said that to motivate startup culture in the state, 'Start-Up Pratiyogita Haryana-2019' is the first step in this direction and will be first of its kind initiative in the region. He informed that the shortlisted students or teams will be awarded with Rs. 5 lakh seed money in the state level function.
