SHIMLA-15 January, 2020-Issues related to water bills will be resolved soon: Suresh BhardwajHe directed the SJPNL to look into the matter and to take necessary actions in this regard.

Suresh Bhardwaj said that the State Government was providing all basic amenities to the people of the State. He said that adequate amount of water was being provided to people of Shimla town. World Bank aided Water Supply Scheme for Shimla town with a cost of rupees one thousand crore would be completed by the year 2023 by SJPNL.

Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer, SJPNL, Dharmender Gill said that the matter related to water bills would be resolved soon. He said that water bills were increased due to technical reasons which would be resolved soon.

Independent Director, SJPNL, Digvijay Chauhan assured the Education Minister that action would be taken against the irregularity in water bills. He said that other than domestic, commercial and construction connections, an alternate option for another connection would be considered to provide relief to people.

Himachal Pradesh Nasha Nivaran Board’ constituted to curb drug menace

With a view to curb the menace of drug abuse in the Himachal Pradesh, the State Government has constituted ‘Himachal Pradesh Nasha Nivaran Board’ under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. This was disclosed by an Official spokesman here today.

The Spokesman said that the Board would have Chief Secretary, Administrative Secretaries of Home, Excise and Taxation, Revenue, Forests, Social Justice and Empowerment, Agriculture, Health and Education and Director General of Police as official members, while Commissioner of State Taxes and Excise as Member Secretary.

Spokesman said that Senior Journalists Ashwani Sharma, Prakash Bhardwaj, Birbal Sharma and Bhanu P. Lohumi, Arjuna Awardee and DSP Ajay Sharma, Retired Additional Commissioner Excise and Taxation Sanjay Bhardwaj, Former Director IGMC Dr. Ravi Sharma and CEO Shriram Hospital Ankur Chauhan as its non official members.

He said that Former Superintendent Narcotics Control Bureau, Chandigarh Zone, Member, Institute of Narcotics Studies and Analysis (INSA), New Delhi Om Prakash has been appointed as Convener-Cum-Advisor of the Board. He said that the tenure of Convener-cum-Advisor and Non-Official Members will be two years and headquarter of the Board would be at Shimla.

The Board would act as a Co-Coordinator between various Drug and Narcotics Enforcement Agencies of the State and would also suggest ways and means to tackle the menace of inter-state drug trafficking, production and distribution within the State.

Preliminary preparations started for census-2021: Chief Secretary

The preliminary preparations have been started in the state for 16th census of India to be conducted in 2021. A meeting of the state level coordination committee was held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anil Kumar Khachi for effective implementation of census-2021.

The Chief Secretary said that most of the work would be edited through mobile application for ensuring transparency and gathering true information in this work. The editing of the information would be done online as well as offline. Detailed training about census work would be provided to Deputy Commissioners and other officers of the districts in the month of February and March, this year.

The Chief Secretary has appealed the people of the State to participate in this national work by providing correct and complete information to the enumerators. He said that the census is not being conducted only to count women and men but it was also a medium to give pace to the development as based on these figures, the governments decides various developmental schemes. He said that the figures of census 2021 would also be helpful in formulating policies as per economic, political and social condition of the people. The Chief Secretary directed the Directorate of Census to provide proper training to enumerators so that correct information could be collected.

Director Census Sunil Kumar Kapta informed that 18 master trainers of Himachal Pradesh were provided training by Census office in November 2019, who would further impart training to 418 field trainers at district level in March 2020. They would further provide training to 19500 enumerators and supervisors of Census in the month of April, 2020.

Director Census informed that enumerators can edit the census work through mobile app. The enumerators engaged in the census work through mobile app would be provided Rs. 25 thousand and those through paper work would be given Rs. 17 thousand as honorarium through DBT in their account.

Shri Kapta informed that in the first phase of census 2021, the census of buildings would be conducted and listed from 16t May to 30 June, 2020 and National Census Register will also be updated along with this work. The supervision of entire work of census would be done through web portal. The officers of Revenue and other departments have been appointed as Nodal Officers. Field trainers, enumerators and supervisors would be appointed at district level/charge level in the state.

Members of coordination committee Principal Secretary Revenue, Secretary GAD, Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Secretary Finance, Secretary Urban Development, Special Secretary Education and Deputy Secretary GAD were also present in the meeting.
