CHANDIGARH JANUARY 14:Octogenarian Veteran journalist Mr. Santosh Kumar Acharya, who died after a brief illness last night, was cremated here today. Mr. Vineet Joshi, Assistant Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, Punjab and Mr. Jangveer Singh Media Advisor to Deputy Chief Minister laid wreaths on behalf of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively and shared the grief of the family.

            Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and Information and Public Relations Minister Punjab Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia expressed grief over the demise of the learned journalist and prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul. Mr. Santosh Acharya remained associated with Veer Pratap, Milap, Shiwalik Sandesh, Naya Lokyug, Him Prabha as Editor and News Editor.

            Prominent amongst others who attended the cremation included Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Member Parliament, Mr. Sat Pal Jain, former MP, Mr. Harmohan Dhawan, former Union Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Bajwa, President Chandigarh Press Club, journalists, prominent social and religious leaders and officers of the Punjab and Haryana governments.

Chandigarh, January 14 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed grief over the sad demise of Mr. Santosh Kumar, Editor of Him Prabha and Naya Lokyug. He was 84 and survived by wife and three sons. He is the father of Mr. Nalin Acharya, Principal Correspondent of Him Prabha.


            In a condolence message issued here today, the Chief Minister described Mr. Santosh Kumar, a former News Editor of Veer Pratap Jalandhar, as a seasoned journalist who would be long remembered for his writings. Mr. Santosh also worked in Milap newspaper and later he also started his newspaper Shivalik Sandesh.


            Mr. Hooda prayed for the peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Chief Minister mourns death of Shri Santosh Kumar

Chief Minister, Shri Virbhadra Singh has mourned the death of Shri Santosh Kumar, Founder Editor of Him Prabha Evening Daily who passed away at Chandigarh yesterday. He was 82 years. Chief Minister prayed the Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
