NEW DELHI- 05TH DECEMBER, 2023-Taking immediate cognizance of the public complaints, Water Minister Atishi conducted a surprise inspection in various areas of Sultanpur Majra and Trilokpuri. Upon witnessing the overflowing sewer water on the streets, she reprimanded officials. Despite continuous complaints from the people about sewer issues, the authorities had not taken any steps towards its resolution.
Following the complaints from the public, the Water Minister personally assessed the issue at ground zero and gave officials a 15-day ultimatum, stating that all sewer problems in the area should be resolved within this timeframe, or officials would face strict action. To address the sewer issues in Trilokpuri Pocket-E, Water Minister directed officials to create a detailed plan.
During the inspection, the Water Minister found that sewage water was overflowing outside the sewers in many lanes. This was causing significant distress to the residents, and the lanes were also being damaged. The common public also shared their problems with the Water Minister and told that they have been complaining to the DJB officials about sewer issues for a long time, but no effective action has been taken in response to their complaints.
Upon this, the Water Minister pulled up the officials, stating that the Kejriwal government does not tolerate any negligence in such cases. Officials should always be accountable to the public. If any officer shows negligence, they should prepared for strict action against them.
Water Minister Atishi further said, “If officials cannot tolerate dirt around their own homes, how can they let sewers overflow outside the homes of common people?” She expressed that such negligence is unacceptable and directed the officials to immediately begin work to resolve the issue.
She directed officials to promptly address all sewer-related issues in the area within 15 days. She warned of stringent action if not resolved and emphasized deploying a large number of machines for this purpose, strictly adhering to the committed timeline.
Water Minister, while committing the people, said that no matter how many challenges arise, as long as Arvind Kejriwal is the Chief Minister of Delhi, the work for the people of Delhi will not come to a halt.
