The Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh organized the 9th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (Chandigarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh State Branch) in the last week of March, 2024. The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Naresh Panda, Dean (Academics) of the Institute. Dr Shyam kumar Keshava, Head, Department of Interventional Radiology, CMC, Vellore and President of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR) was the Guest of Honor along with Prof. MS Sandhu.

The meeting was held under the able guidance of Prof. MS Sandhu, Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, PGIMER, Prof. Naveen Kalra, President of the Branch and Organizing Chairperson of the meeting and Dr Chirag Ahuja, Organizing Secretary of the meeting.

There were lots of‘Workshops for hands-on-training in Interventions’and ‘How I do it’ sessions. There were didactic lectures and case discussions by reputed national faculty in the field. There were detailed discussions on the image-guided treatment of critical emergency situations like stroke, obstructive jaundice and critical limb ischemia. Eminent speakers included faculty from PGIMER, Chandigarh, AIIMS, New Delhi, IGMC, Shimla, AIIMS, Bilaspur, AFMC, Pune and south India.

The conference was attended by about 100 delegates including postgraduate students and fellows and practicing interventional radiologists. In the conference all the past Presidents, past Secretaries and the patrons of the Society branch including Dr Sudha Suri and Dr Niranjan Khandelwal were honored. The meeting concluded with an interactive quiz for the radiology trainees.
