CHANDIGARH,18.04.24-Under the guidance of Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav, IPS, DGP/UT, Chandigarh and under the supervision of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Headquarters & Training, U.T., Chandigarh, today i.e. on 18.4.2024, in collaboration with People for Animals (PFA) a training programme on “Animal Welfare Laws” was organized at Recruit Training Centre, Sector-26, Chandigarh. Total 25 Police officials of Chandigarh Police attended this training programme.

Ms. Gauri Maulekhi, Trustee of People for Animals, recipient of Nari Shakti Puraskar-2018 delivered the lectures to the participants and explained the challenges and legal frameworks pertinent to animal welfare. This training programme was specially designed to cover essential areas such as the identification and management of animal cruelty cases, compliance with legal protocols in veteran-legal scenarios and the implementation of local animal welfare regulations. Training programme was also attended by Dharmender Dogra, Field Inspector, SPCA, Chandigarh, Dr. Prateek, Veterinary Officer, SPCA, Chandigarh and Ms. Ishwita Kaur Malhotra, Fellow, Ahinsa Fellowship. During the training programme “Law Enforcement Handbook on Animal Welfare Laws” and Bare Act of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 were also given to the participants. The main objective of this training programme was to develop a holistic knowledge of practical enforcement of Animal Protection Laws among the police officials. Ms. Jaswinder Kaur, DSP/Training, Chandigarh Police also interacted with the participants and extended a vote of thanks to the resource persons
