MANIMAJRA ( CJHANDIGARH)-22.04.24-"In the recent hail storm dated 19th April 2024, couple of trees fell down in the neighbourhood parks in MHC Sector-13 Chandigarh. One tall tree got uprooted and fell over the boundary wall of an adjacent school. Thankfully, there was no loss of human life. The children playing in the park, in such an event, could be most vulnerable. It is, however, appreciable that the fallen tree was quickly removed by the horticulture department"expressed by Colonel Gursewak Singh,President, Residents Welfare Association, MHC Sector-13 Chandigarh.

It is brought to your kind notice that some trees are decaying and dying down, some have hollow stems. There are others in the residential area which have overgrown up to the height of 30-40 feet. They sway menacingly with strong wind and may break ant time causing threat to the very safety of the building itself.

In the light of the foregoing, it is suggested that a survey be carried out to identify trees which may endanger life and property of residents. Such trees need to be pruned by way of pollarding or topping as the case may be.
