New Delhi, December 12:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday said that before one nation, one election the Union government must ensure one nation, one education and one healthcare.
Interacting with the media persons here outside the Parliament House, the Chief Minister said that it is strange that instead of implementing in one nation, one education and one treatment in the country the Modi government is keen for implementing one nation, one elections. He said that this is an arbitrary move as while the former will benefit the masses in entire country the latter will only fulfill the political motives of the saffron party. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is unfortunate that the rather than public welfare the Modi government is keen on ensuring its well being only adding that this is dictatorial attitude which is not in interest of regional parties and states.
Replying to a query, the Chief Minister said that that now Punjab has the best law and order situation in the country due to strenuous efforts of the state government. He said that security of the residents in the topmost priority of his government and they are committed for this cause. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the social bonding in state is so strong that any seed could grow on the fertile land of Punjab but seed of hatred will not germinate here at any cost.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab is a sacred land of great Gurus, saints and seers who have shown us the path of mutual love and tolerance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is already probing the unfortunate incident of firing on Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and the conspiracy will be exposed soon. He said that SGPC has, for the reasons best known to them, not supported the Punjab Police in enquiry by denying the CCTV footage of the Sri Harminder Sahib complex adding that now when the footage has been attained enquiry will be expedited.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that the party has got office in Parliament House. He recalled his stint as MP in the Parliament of India adding that this platform should be duly utilised for raising the issues of public importance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Union government must allow the opposition leaders to raise the public issues in the Parliament in larger public interest.

Speaker Sandhwan Urges Centre to Address Farmers’ Grievances Promptly
Chandigarh, December 12-Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has called on the Union government to initiate meaningful dialogue with farmers to resolve their pressing issues. Stressing the need for sincerity and urgency, he appealed to the Centre to address farmers’ demands, including legal guarantees for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations.
The Speaker also expressed grave concern over the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike at the Khanauri border since November 30. Despite being a cancer patient, Dallewal has continued his fast-unto-death protest, demanding swift government action. Sandhwan urged the Centre to persuade Dallewal to end his hunger strike, emphasizing the need to save his life.
He further called on farmers’ organizations to devise a constructive approach to break the deadlock and seek a resolution to the ongoing protests.
Reiterating his support for the farmers, Speaker Sandhwan stated that their demands are genuine and deserve immediate attention. He appealed to the Centre to act decisively and not delay in addressing the concerns of the farming community.

Vigilance Bureau arrests Motor Vehicle Inspector, his associate taking Rs. 14,000 bribe
Chandigarh December 12, 2024 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, on Thursday arrested Gurmeet Singh, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Patiala and his associate Anil, a private person from Patiala red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 14,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the VB said the above said accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Patiala city, and working as a private document writer in District Administrative Complex, Patiala.
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that above said accused MVI has been demanding a bribe non through his private agent Anil for passing the fitness of vehicles and clear his driving licence test.
The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary enquiry into this complaint the VB team laid a trap during which both the accused Gurmeet Singh, MVI and his private agent Anil were arrested while they were accepting a of Rs. 14,000 from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses and bribe money was also recovered. In this regard a case has been registered against both the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Patiala range and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.

In this connection, total nominations received for Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar is 448, for Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana is 682, for Municipal Corporation, Phagwara is 219, for Municipal Corporation, Amritsar is 709 and for Municipal Corporation, Patiala Corporation is 173.
