Punjab Ministers Personally Inviting Chief Ministers Across the Country

Chandigarh, October 24:The Punjab Government is commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji with great devotion and grandeur. Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, all Cabinet Ministers of Punjab have been assigned the special responsibility of personally inviting the Chief Ministers of various states across the country.

A government spokesperson informed that invitations have already been handed over to several Chief Ministers, while the remaining states will be covered in the coming days.

He said that Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Lal Chand Kataruchak have been deputed to deliver invitations to the Chief Ministers of Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam. Similarly, Aman Arora and Tarunpreet Singh Sond will visit Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand.

Dr. Balbir Singh and Hardeep Singh Mundian have been assigned to invite the Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, while Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and Barinder Kumar Goyal will deliver invitations to the Chief Ministers of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.

Likewise, Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Advisor to the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Deepak Bali will invite the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Dr. Baljeet Kaur and Mohinder Bhagat have been tasked with inviting the Chief Ministers of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Furthermore, Ministers Laljit Singh Bhullar and Dr. Ravjot Singh will travel to Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur (under President’s Rule), and Nagaland to extend the invitations. Meanwhile, Ministers Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Sanjeev Arora will deliver invitations to the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Goa.

Chandigarh, October 24-The Ministers of the Punjab Cabinet, on Friday, called on the Chief Ministers of various states to formally extend invitations for the upcoming events commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, being organised by the Government of Punjab.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, along with Deepak Bali, Advisor to the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to invite him to attend the commemorative events.

In a separate engagement, Cabinet Minister Dr Balbir Singh and Hardeep Singh Mundian met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to extend an invitation for him to attend the functions being organised to mark the 350th Shahidi Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Furthermore, the Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund called on the Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, to invite her to the events marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

The meetings are part of the Punjab Government's initiative to ensure wide participation in the historic events being organised in Punjab to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of ‘Hind Di Chadar’ Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Ninth Sikh Guru.

Anandpur Sahib’s road network to be uplifted for Martyrdom Day celebrations

* PWD Minister sets the deadline of November 15

Chandigarh, October 24-Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Friday instructed the officials to speed up the work of road projects and complete the projects before November 15, 2025 in wake of Martyrdom Day celebrations.

In a press briefing issued here, the Cabinet Minister said that the Chandigarh Circle of the Public Works Department has finalized a comprehensive plan for the upgrading and maintenance of key roads and lighting infrastructure in Shri Anandpur Sahib, coinciding with the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The total estimated grant for the planned works and associated maintenance activities amounts to approximately ₹24.51 Crore .

Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the plan includes the upgrading of vital roads such as the Sri Anandpur Sahib to Dashmesh Academy Road, internal city roads and the route from Sri Anandpur Sahib to Sri Naina Devi Road, among others. A major component involves the improvement of road surfaces, bridges and connected lanes with an estimated cost of ₹23 crore. An additional ₹77.58 lacs has been allocated for special repair and maintenance works.

The Cabinet Minister further said that repair works covering strategic road stretches and electrical maintenance of road lighting have also been prioritized. Regular and special repairs, replacement of damaged electrical poles, installation of LED lighting and the upgrade of aluminum and copper wiring are part of the initiative, addressing both functional efficiency and safety.

Harbhajan Singh ETO informed that total sanctioned amount for these works stands at ₹24.51 crores. The department reaffirms its commitment to ensuring top-quality infrastructure to facilitate smooth travel for pilgrims and residents as well as to enhance the overall environment during this historic commemoration.

In the evening a Kirtan Darbar will be held at Gurdawara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib in which Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Arvind Kejriwal will pay obeisance. In this Kirtan Darbar eminent Ragis like Bhai Amarjit Singh Taan, Bhai Anantbir Singh, Bhai Chamanjit Singh Lal, Bhai Joginder Singh Riar, Bhai Davinder Singh Sodhi, Bhai Jaskaran Singh and others will perform live Kirtan.

Pertinently, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the state government has already chalked a number of events to commemorate this once in a lifetime event across the state in a befitting manner. On the historic occasion of the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Punjab Government will organize grand and historic events. Mock session to be held on 26 Nov tentatively to impart political knowledge to students in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Says Speaker

Speaker held online meeting with District Education Officers of the state

Chandigarh 24 October 2025:Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan held a state-level online meeting with the district education officers of the state to conduct mock session for students in Punjab Vidhan Sabha on 26 November 2025 tentatively.

Speaker informed that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is making historic reforms in the education sector. He said that government schools are being converted into smart schools, vacant posts of teachers are being filled and new efforts are being made to provide quality education to the students.

He said that the Punjab government is going to take important steps to provide political training to students along with their education. He said that a mock session will be held in Punjab Vidhan Sabha by selecting one student from each Vidhan Sabha constituency in order to make students aware about how political dispensation works, how laws are made, where the budget comes from etc. In this mock session, selected students of government schools will participate.

He disclosed that only if the students have a proper understanding of politics, they can go ahead and elect the right representative. He said that about 2400-2500 students from government schools have visited the Punjab Vidhan Sabha so far.

Chandigarh, October 24:Punjab Water Resources Minister Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal today directed that a special committee be constituted to visit other states and study innovative as well as economical flood protection techniques suitable for Punjab’s topography.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Committee Room of the Irrigation Building, the Water Resources Minister said that such comparative studies would help in adopting cost-efficient and practical methods to strengthen the state’s flood management infrastructure. He issued strict directions to the department for timely completion of all flood protection and desilting works ahead of the next monsoon season. The Minister reviewed the ongoing and proposed measures for flood prevention and effective water management across the state.

Taking up the matter of recurring flooding in Baupur Island, the Cabinet Minister expressed concern over the hardships faced by local residents and instructed the department to work out suitable technical solutions to provide permanent relief. He also reviewed the situation in waterlogged areas and asked officials to plan and execute long-term projects to ensure sustainable mitigation.

Sh. Goyal stressed that all flood protection works must be executed with full diligence and completed well before the onset of the next monsoon season. He directed officials to ensure close monitoring of field execution and timely completion of tendering processes.

While discussing the desilting programme, the Cabinet Minister stressed that field execution should commence at the earliest to ensure the natural flow of water through rivers and drains. He further directed that plantations and other obstructions from river courses must be removed without delay. Officials informed that notices have already been issued to those responsible for encroachments.

The meeting also reviewed the status of breach repair works undertaken during recent floods. The Water Resources Minister lauded the dedicated efforts of field officers and district administrations for executing these works swiftly and effectively.

Prominent amongst others who were present in the meeting included Principal Secretary Sh. Krishan Kumar, Chief Engineer (Drainage) S. Hardeep Singh Mendiratta, Chief Engineer (Designs) Mr. Vijay Kumar Garg and senior officers of the department.
