As soon as my Government took over, we took a decision to auction liquor vends and generated an income of Rs 450 crore then, which the BJP could not do during its five years of its regime. It is not my intent to stall Barsar’s development, let's forget political rigidity and focus on development: CM
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during his one-day tour of the Barsar Assembly Constituency, hit multiple targets with a single stroke. Without taking the BJP MLA’s name, he launched a sharp barb and criticised all the seven MPs of BJP failing to get disaster relief funds.
Addressing a public gathering at the Mini Secretariat in Barsar, the Chief Minister launching a scathing attack of BJP said that in the 2024 Assembly by-election, when attempts were made to topple our government, two MLAs from Hamirpur district switched their loyalty towards BJP. "I could never have imagined that the MLA from Barsar would be amongst them.”
The Chief Minister said the people of Barsar committed a grave mistake in the last by-poll. “One has to pay dearly for mistakes made in a fit of emotion. The people of Sujanpur also made such a mistake in 2017 by defeating BJP’s declared Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and the people of Barsar repeated the same in 2024,”he remarked
Not even a single Minister was made wherein it was projected that the next Chief Minister would be of BJP from Hamirpur once the government is formed in 2017. From very that day, the development in Hamirpur came to a halt, he said.
Our government has restarted development in Hamirpur for its people, said the Chief Minster adding that Barsar was his home and stalling its development was not his intention. The development of Barsar is the contribution of Congress. Projects worth crores were underway. "I urge the people of Barsar to abandon political rigidity and walk with the congress government which focuses on development rather than doing petty politics.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu further said that Himachal has seven MPs from BJP and one of them has been ‘stolen’ from Congress. I request them to bring the Rs. 1,500 crore disaster relief package announced by the Prime Minister in Kangra. Our government is ready to accompany the BJP MPs to the Prime Minister for bringing this relief amount, said Sh. Sukhu.
The Chief Minister also targeted the former BJP government over the allotment of industrial plots, stating that under the guise of ‘customised packages’, the State’s resources were squandered. He also made a significant announcement concerning reduced employment opportunities in the Army due to the introduction of the Agniveer scheme, and added that 800 posts would be filled in the Police Department soon. “During the previous government, the police recruitment examination paper was leaked out, but our government conducted recruitment with complete transparency, he reiterated.”
