Chandigarh, 2 November: The Department of Psychology and the Department of Mathematics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised the induction ceremonies of Psychminions and Mathematics Club, respectively, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and academic enthusiasm among students.
The Induction ceremony of Psychminions- the Psychology Society featured an introductory video highlighting the society’s objectives and achievements, an experiential workshop on ‘Emotional Self-Regulation through Creative Expression’, and a presentation on ‘Ubuntu- I am because we are’. Ms. Ravtesh Kaur, Psychologist, Expressive Arts Therapist, and an alumna of the college, conducted the workshop that guided students through relaxation, body movement, and expressive art activities to help them explore and process emotions creatively.
In another celebration of intellect and innovation, the Mathematics Club ‘Infinite Insight’ of the Postgraduate Department of Mathematics organised its ‘Ice Breaker’ session, paying tribute to the elegance, precision, and creative dimensions of mathematics. The event officially launched the club and sought to spark enthusiasm for mathematics beyond conventional learning. The session featured engaging activities such as math riddles, tongue twisters, charades, and “Pass the Parcel,” combining logic with fun. Over 90 students from diverse disciplines participated, along with the faculty of the PG Department of Mathematics. Badges were given to the core team members and leaders, marking their formal induction into the club.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated both departments for their innovative initiatives that promoted holistic learning by integrating intellect, creativity, and emotional intelligence.
