Chandigarh, November 29:- In its ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management rules, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has intensified enforcement across the city. As part of this drive, MCC conducted a focused sanitation and enforcement operation in Sector-53, where private bus operators violating sanitation norms were challaned for creating public nuisance and disregarding civic hygiene standards.

The sanitation drive was executed last evwning in late hours under the supervision of Health Supervisor, Chief Sanitary Inspector and Sanitary Inspectors of sanitation department, MC Chandigarh.

During the drive, the team issued seven challans to bus drivers for violations related to improper waste disposal and behavior causing public nuisance. Each violation was meticulously documented with photographic and geo-tagged evidence, ensuring transparency and accountability in enforcement.

MCC officials highlighted that improper and unregulated bus parking continues to be a significant contributor to sanitation issues in Sector-53. To address this recurring problem, a formal communication will be sent to the State Transport Authority (STA) on Monday, urging their cooperation in regulating bus movement and ensuring proper parking practices by transport operators.

The Corporation further announced that special challan drives will resume in Sector-53 from Monday, with enhanced monitoring to strictly enforce MSW rules and parking norms.

Issuing a strict warning, MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, emphasized the Corporation’s unwavering stance on maintaining urban cleanliness. Any individual or agency found violating sanitation or parking regulations will face strict penal action. Cleanliness and civic discipline are non-negotiable, and the Municipal Corporation will intensify enforcement to uphold Chandigarh’s standards, stated the Commissioner.

He appealed to all residents, transport operators, and stakeholders to extend full cooperation in maintaining a clean, hygienic, and well-disciplined urban environment.
