Chandigarh, December 9:- City Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, conducted an extensive visit to Ward No. 10, covering Sectors 27, 28 and 29, to review the progress of ongoing development works and address issues related to essential public services. Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other concerned officers were also present during the inspection.
During the visit, they also took swachhata pledge and create awareness among masses regarding segregation of waste at source level.
In Sector 28, the team assessed several key matters, including the removal of encroachments by car repair shops in the market area, proper upkeep and maintenance of the Jasmine Garden, mechanized pruning of trees, regular removal of construction material from different locations, and operationalization of public toilets within the market. The officers were directed to ensure timely and effective action to enhance the sector’s civic environment.
In Sector 27, special focus was placed on the preservation and specialized maintenance of trees aged between 50 to 100 years, systematic pruning, and the development and optimal utilization of the space at the old Sehaj Safai Kendra. Discussion also covered mitigation of monkey menace in residential pockets, implementation of rodent control measures, improvement of irregular tertiary treated water supply, repair and maintenance of open-air gym equipment in parks, provision of essential cleaning tools for sanitation workers in park toilets, repair of tile work in the market area, addressing irregular attendance of door-to-door waste collectors, and rectification of the improper slope on the V-6 road in Sector 27-D.
During the visit to Sector 29, the officials reviewed the renovation of the community centre, comprehensive maintenance of green belts, and pruning across the sector. The Commissioner instructed the concerned officers to expedite all works and ensure that the issues are resolved at the earliest.
