Chandigarh, 05.01.2026-The Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, along with Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh, and other senior officers of the Administration, paid a visit to Snehalaya for Girls, Sector-15, Chandigarh. Ms. Anuradha S. Chagti, Secretary, Social Welfare, and Ms. Palika Arora, Director, Social Welfare, were also present during the visit.

During the visit, the Hon'ble administrator interacted with the children, enquired about their well-being, education and daily activities, and took rounds of the Home to inspect the facilities being provided to the children residing in the Children's Home. The Hon'ble administrator also reviewed the arrangements relating to care, safety, nutrition, and overall development of the children and appreciated the efforts of the staff engaged in child care services.

The Hon'ble Administrator also visited Nari-Niketan, Shakti Sadan, After Care Home for Girls and One Stop Center operating within the premises, wherein he interacted with all the residents & asked them about their daily routine. He emphasised that all the residents should be engaged in meaningful activities.

He appreciated the art & craft work of residents of Nari-Niketan & encouraged them to continue doing. He emphasized that skill training to be provided to all the residents.


The Administrator also visited the Blind Institute, Sector 26, Chandigarh, where he reviewed the infrastructure and sanitation facilities. The Administrator was apprised of the functioning of Braille Lipi learning systems and visited the computer laboratory, where visually challenged students use computers with the assistance of specially designed software. He appreciated the efforts being made towards education, skill development, and rehabilitation of visually challenged persons.

The Hon'ble Administrator was warmly welcomed and greeted by the children and residents of Nari Niketan as well as the students and staff of the Blind Institute, making the visit a memorable and encouraging experience for all.
