-The Chief Secretary , UT Chandigarh, Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, today chaired a review meeting with Secretaries of all departments of the Chandigarh Administration to assess the progress of key developmental projects and administrative matters.

Chandigarh: 30th April,2026-The Chief Secretary , UT Chandigarh, Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, today chaired a review meeting with Secretaries of all departments of the Chandigarh Administration to assess the progress of key developmental projects and administrative matters.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed all Administrative Secretaries to expedite the filling of promotional posts in their respective departments. He emphasized the need to convene Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings at the earliest to facilitate timely promotions. He also instructed departments to accelerate recruitment processes to fill vacant positions without delay.

The Engineering Department was directed to finalize the tendering process for various projects within a stipulated timeframe. The Chief Secretary further stressed that budgetary allocations must be utilized efficiently to avoid any lapse at the end of the financial year.

It was highlighted that a large number of government houses are in a dilapidated condition and have remained unoccupied for a long time. The Chief Secretary instructed the Engineering Department to prepare an inventory of such houses and work out modalities for their optimal utilization.

He also directed the AYUSH Department to operationalize the AYUSH Hospital in Sector 34 at the earliest.

Further, the Chief Secretary emphasized that the accounts of corporations, boards and societies under the Chandigarh Administration should be regularly monitored and properly maintained. He directed that meetings of Boards of Governors be conducted as per prescribed norms and that annual reports be submitted in a timely manner.

The Secetary Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) apprised the chair that the auction of 79 commercial booths on a leasehold basis and 14 residential dwelling units on a freehold basis will be conducted within a week.

The meeting was attended by the Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary, Sh. Diprava Lakra, Finance Secretary, Ms. Prerna Puri, Secretary Engineering, Sh. Swapnil M. Naik, Secretary Personnel, Sh. Nishant Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. D. Karthikeyan, CEO-CHB, Sh. Manjeet Singh Sheoran, Superintendent of Police, and other senior officers.

Chandigarh, 30.04.2026:A Self Enumeration Camp was organized today at the office of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) for its employees as part of the ongoing Census-related activities in the Union Territory. The camp was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Sorabh Kumar Arora, Secretary, CHB, and Sh. Rajiv Tewari, Census Charge Officer.

During the camp, employees were facilitated and guided to complete their self-enumeration process in a smooth and efficient manner. Necessary assistance was provided on-site to ensure accurate and timely submission of details.

It is pertinent to mention that the Self Enumeration exercise in Chandigarh was carried out from 16th April to 30th April, 2026, with today marking the last date of the drive.

The initiative aims to promote ease, transparency, and public participation in the Census process, while ensuring that no individual is left uncounted.
