Chandigarh, 3 June: On the occasion of World Bicycle Day 2026, NSS units and Department of Physical Education at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Eco-Club- Parivesh, organised a Cycle Rally. In sync with the theme for this year’s World Bicycle Day- “Cycling for a Greener Future”, the rally served as an effective platform for spreading awareness about the benefits of cycling in reducing pollution, promoting fitness, and contributing to a sustainable future.

The rally commenced from the college gate and witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff members. The programme highlighted the role of cycling in combating climate change and fostering sustainable living practices. Participants carried their bicycles and water bottles, reflecting their commitment to a healthy lifestyle and environmental responsibility. They also pledged to incorporate environmentally responsible practices into their daily lives.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma emphasised the significance of cycling as a sustainable mode of transport that helps reduce carbon emissions, conserve energy resources, and enhance physical and mental well-being. She encouraged students to adopt cycling as a regular habit and serve as ambassadors of environmental conservation.
