chandigarh, 02.07.26-Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (TCT) successfully organized its 106th Thalassaemia Awareness Programme on 2nd July 2026 for Class XII students, along with Prof. (Dr.) Bharti, NINE, PGI; Coordinator – Government of India, and teachers from Government Model Senior Secondary Schools, Kangra (Himachal Pradesh). The participants were undergoing their Internship on Health Care Programme as part of their on-the-job training at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
During the programme, the group visited the Thalassaemia Ward, where they were introduced to various aspects of thalassaemia, including its causes, prevention, and management. Sh. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary, TCT, conducted an informative awareness session and highlighted the importance of early screening and public awareness. Educational brochures on thalassaemia were also distributed to all participants.
A special interaction with patients receiving regular blood transfusions provided the students and teachers with valuable insight into the realities of living with thalassaemia and the significance of continuous medical care and community support. TCT also arranged refreshments for both the participants and the patients.
The awareness programme was well received by the students and teachers, who appreciated the Trust’s sustained commitment towards thalassaemia awareness and patient welfare. They commended the systematic organization of the programme and expressed their gratitude to Sh. Rajinder Kalra and the TCT team for conducting such an informative and meaningful session.
