CHANDIGARH, 03.07.26-GST Day Celebrationto mark nine years of the successful implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was hosted by Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh. The programme was curated by Central Goods & Services Tax (CGST) Department, Chandigarh.

Shri Shubh Chintan, Chief Commissioner, CGST Zone Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The programme also witnessed the gracious presence of Shri Manish Saxena, Principal Commissioner, CGST Commissionerate, Chandigarh, Shri B S Meena, Principal Commissioner, CGST Audit Commissionerate, Chandigarh, Smt Pranjal Singh, Commissioner, CGST Appeals Commissionerate, Chandigarh & Shri Sanket Kale ADG DGGI`, Chandigarh. Members of trade & industry including top taxpayers, representatives of CII & Chandigarh Vyapar Mandal also joined the celebrations.

Speaking on the theme “Sugam Kar Vyavastha, Sashakt Bharat,” Shri Shubh Chintan highlighted the achievements of GST and its role in strengthening India’s economy. Shri Manish Saxena felicitated Ms. Neena Sharma, Principal of the college, for providing an excellent platform to create awareness about GST and congratulated her for hosting such a meaningful event. Ms. Neena Sharma expressed her gratitude and remarked that educational institutions play a vital role in connecting students with significant national reforms.

The programme also honoured leading taxpayers and CGST officers for their contributions to GST implementation. The programme was marked by vibrant cultural performances, including music, poetry, dance, and Bhangra, adding a festive note to the occasion.
