CHANDIGARH,Date: 11 September 2026-The Government College of Commerce & Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh, today inaugurated a two-day workshop on "Universal Human Values: A Journey towards Professional Ethics," sponsored by the Directorate of Curriculum Development and Continuing Education (DCDC), Panjab University, Chandigarh. Around 110 participants, including nearly 33 students and about 70 academicians from across the region, attended the inaugural day.

Prof. (Dr.) Bhola Ram Gurjar, Director, NITTTR Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest. The inaugural session included tree plantation, floral welcome and lighting of the Deep Shikha. Dr. Sangam Kapoor, Principal, GCCBA-50, welcomed the gathering, followed by addresses by Ms. Palika Arora, PCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, Prof. Punam Agarwal, Dean, GCCBA-50, and the Presidential Address by Prof. Gurjar. Dr. Amarpreet Singh Sijher, Vice Principal, was also along with faculty members. The session concluded with felicitations and a group photograph.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Bhola Ram Gurjar said, "Professional competence finds true meaning only when it is anchored in human values; workshops like this help young minds build character alongside capability." Ms. Palika Arora, PCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, remarked, "Institutions of higher learning must nurture ethics and empathy as much as knowledge, and this workshop is a valuable step in that direction." Dr. Sangam Kapoor, Principal, GCCBA-50, stated, "It is our constant endeavour to expose students to value-based learning so that they grow into responsible professionals and citizens." Prof. Punam Agarwal, Dean, GCCBA-50, added, "True education bestows humility ('Vidya Dadati Vinayam'), which serves as the foundational pillar for all professional ethics and personal conduct."

In the technical sessions, Dr. P. K. Singla spoke on the "Concept and Significance of Ethics and Values"; Dr. Shivani Sharma addressed "Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah: Understanding Indian Value System"; and Dr. Garima Joshi discussed "Family Values and Harmony in Life." The day ended with an interactive discussion over high tea.
