LUDHIANA, 12 April (Ajay Pahwa) : Today a mammoth General Body Meeting of PAU Retirees Welfare Association (Regd.) comprising 200 pensioners was held in the Students' Home. 
Conducting the stage Mr. Satish Sood, General Secretary apprised the gathering that a Protest March upto the office of Vice Chancellor, Thapar Hall is arranged. When the procession started more than 200 pensioners with different slogans and demand of LTA written on the cardboard were raising slogans. He also highlighted that the Hon'ble High Court has already given directions to the PAU to make the payment of all the pending dues immediately for which the University authorities are now facing contempt. Sh. D.P. Maur, Chairman requested the authorities to release the LTA immediately, so that the agitation is not further intensified. He further told that the payment of both LTAs has already been made in time in the Punjab Government. He further demanded the 23 months DA arrear to be released immediately. He further clarified that 6% increase of LTA of 2016 needs implementation.
Mr. Jila Ram Bansal, President highlighted the activities of the Association during the last period. He apprised the gathering that he had written many letters to the authorities for releasing the LTA during the last few months, but no reply has so for been received. He further told that they have tried to discuss the reason for the non-payment of LTA face to face with authorities, but it seemed that the authorities were concealing something and playing hide and seek with the elected representatives of the Association which is an undemocratic step. In the end Mr. Bansal warned that if the authorities do not leave the path of confrontation and do not come to table for talk or do not release the LTAs, he took approval from the General Body to give all the rights to the Executive Council to prepare further line of action of agitation. Mr. Bansal informed the gathering that as soon as the date and mode of agitation is decided by the Executive Council, the same will be intimated to them through phone, media and messages network. He in the end, put whole responsibility on the PAU Authorities for further irritating the pensioners. 
On this occasion HBS Bhatia, Ajit Singh Cheema, CS Grewal, Joginder Ram, Labh Singh Chehal, Narinderpal Singh, Sukhjinder Singh Sekhon, Manjit Sing Mehram, Gurmukh Singh, Birbal, Jagga Singh Doabia, TS Sangra, Iqbal Singh, Sohan Singh, RS Rangeela, Muni Lal, Anoop Singh, Roop Lal Sharma, Paramjit Narula, Amarjit Singh, Mrs. Sapat Kala, Gurdev Singh Grewal, Bhagwant Sing, Kailash Chander & Amar Singh Sekhon were present.
