Chandigarh, June 20, 2016 ( kalsi):- : Rain saved the hosts Cricket Council of India (CCI) from the ignominy of a whitewash in the one-day series against the visiting Kandukara Cricket Club of Sri Lanka at the Sector 40 Government Senior Secondary School Grounds here on Monday.

CCI were 156 for the loss of seven wickets in 31 overs in reply to the Sri Lankan club’s  total of 210 all out in 44 overs, when rain ruled out the rest of the match and the CCI team was declared victorious by just two runs by the D/L method. The hero of the CCI innings was Aashim Kaushal who cracked the first century of the tour. His 102 in 92 balls were embellished with 14 fours and four sixes.

As usual Kandukara Cricket Club’s captain Nishan was once again the star performer for his side, stroking a quickfire 57 in 34 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes and picked up three CCI wickets. His mate Vishwa was the top scorer for the club with 65 runs and Dhamika chipped in with a valuable 29 runs.

CCI bowlers did a reasonably good job with Surya picking up four Kandukara Cricket Club wickets and Ravinder 2 wickets.
