Chandigarh, June 18:Congress MLAs from Tarn Taran district including DCC president and Kemkaran MLA Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, Harminder Gill, Ramanjit Singh Sikki and Dr Dharampal Agnihotri today condemned the Akali leader Virsa Singh Voltoha for threatening the Tarn Taran Deputy Commissioner and other officers.

In a joint statement issued here today, the MLAs said, Voltoha appeared to be still in hangover of ten year Akali high handedness. They told Voltoha that he should better realise that the regime has changed and it is the rule of law that is now prevailing in Punjab and not the jungle raj of the Akalis he was part of.

The MLAs urged the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to probe into all the activities Voltoha did during the last ten years. They alleged that before joining politics , Voltoha was a terrorist. "In fact he had proudly claimed in the Vidhan Sabha that he was proud to be a terrorist", Congress leaders pointed out, while alleging that he had resorted to terror during last ten years also to intimidate his political rivals.

They alleged that Voltoha had amassed huge wealth during these years and most of this wealth had come from drug dealings as he (Voltoha) was closely associated and aligned with trans-border drug dealers and international smugglers.

The Congress MLAs reiterated that the Congress government was committed to providing rule of law in the state. "At the same time we want to assure people that all those people, like Voltoha, who intimidated Congress workers will be brought to jusitice", they added.

Referring to Voltoha's threats about maintaining the diaries of the officers, they told him that it was his (Voltoha's) diaries which will be opened and he will be exposed very soon. "The record of all your omissions and commissions is ready to be revealed and you will not only stand exposed before the public, but will also be held accountable and answerable to law of the land", they told Valtoha in no ambiguous terms.
