Chandigarh October 12: Haryana Government will spend a sum of Rs 12 crore for the management of crop residue in the State.

            This was informed by Chief Secretary, Mr D.S Dhesi while presiding over a meeting of State Level Sanctioning Committee of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) here today.

            Projects worth Rs 167 crore were approved in the meeting out of which Rs 12 crore was approved for various activities of crop residue management. This would include providing subsidy for purchase of Happy Seeders, Straw Balers and Straw Reapers. Apart from this, approval was also accorded to On-farm Water Management Project under RKVY for the year 2017-18, setting up of Residential Organic Farming Training Centre for the promotion of organic farming at Gurukul, Kurukshetra and Peri Urban Horticulture Development as a sub-scheme of RKVY for the year 2017-18.

            It was informed in the meeting that during 2016-17, purchase of 1462 Straw Reapers and 68 Happy Seeders was subsidized under RKVY. He said that during 2017-18, provision has been made for the purchase of 2433 Straw Reapers, 231 Happy Seeders and 38 Straw Balers.

            The meeting was informed that the first installment of Rs 50.15 crore under the RKVY has been received from the Central Government and after the approval of Centre and State share by the Finance Department; Rs 83.58 crore had been released to the implementing agencies of various departments.

            The Chief Secretary directed the officers to submit utilization certificate on time.
