CII Welcomes the New Industrial Policy approved by Punjab Cabinet

 

 Chandigarh:16.10.17-Confederation of Indian Industry has complimented the Government of Punjab for approving a comprehensive, forward-looking and industry-friendly 'New Industrial and Business Development Policy 2017'.    

 

Congratulating the state leadership on decisions such as providing power to the Industry uniformly at Rs 5 per unit as well as equal incentives for expansion, modernization and upgradation of the existing units at par with new investments, Mr Sumant Sinha, Chairman, CII Northern Region & Chairman & CEO, ReNew Power Ventures, today said the new Industrial Policy clearly demonstrates the State Government’s intent and commitment to accelerate the Industrial growth in the state.  

 

Complimenting the state government, Mr Sachit Jain, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region and Vice Chairman & Mg Director, Vardhaman Special Steel, said several key policy decisions, including ‘BusinessFirst’ approach to accord foremost priority to the growth and development of business in the state and delivery of fiscal incentives through one common integrated platform will go a long way in attracting investments and building the confidence of the investors.  

 

Mr Gurmeet Singh Bhatia, Chairman, CII Punjab State Council & Managing Director, Ajooni Biotech Limited, hailed measures such as incentives for new and existing industries, besides a one-time settlement policy for industries against loan taken from PSIDC and PFC.   The new Industrial policy has also extended a special relief package for BIFR registered / declared sick large units by reimbursement of 75% of net VAT/net SGST for a period of 5 years.

 

 Mr Sarvjit Samra, Vice Chairman, CII Punjab State Council & Managing Director, Capital Small Finance Bank, appreciated the State Government’s decision to facilitate and help the trade and industry through its eight core strategic pillars of Infrastructure, Power, MSME, Ease of Doing Business, Startup & Entrepreneurship, Skill Development and Fiscal & Non Fiscal Incentives, Stakeholder Engagement and Policy Implementation Units supported by sector-specific strategies for growth.  Mr Samra hoped that the policy will provide new thrust to the development of the MSME sector, besides promoting the service sector and traditional manufacturing industries.

 

Mr Babu Khan, Regional Director, CII Northern Region, praised the State Government for having adopted a partnership approach and a comprehensive consultation with all stakeholders while drafting the policy.  He expressed satisfaction that many of the suggestions / inputs given by the industry have found place in the policy approved by the Cabinet today.

Connect, Communicate & Collaborate: CII Chandigarh Fair proves to be a Unique Networking Platform for Business Development 

CHANDIGARH:16.10.17-The four-day CII Chandigarh Fair 2017 ended to an overwhelming response today. The 22nd edition of the mega Diwali shopping Fair was organized at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh, from 13 to 16 October. People could be seen making a beeline till late evening hours for last minute shopping at the fair. 

The winners of CII Shop To Win Contest are Gagan Preet Singh, resident of Phase 7, Mohali, first mega prize of Robam Kitchen Chimney. The 2nd mega prize was won by Dr Vikas Garg from Sector 12 A, Panchkula, who won the Full Bridal Makeover from Preet Bagga & Special Gift Voucher from Bittu Fashioners.   Other winners included, Harnam Singh, Jatin K Jain, Harmanpreet Kaur, Satish Kaushal, M.A. Malik, Mahesh K Monga, Vikas Garg, Preet Bagga, won various gift hampers . Mr Man Mohan S Kohli, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Fair 2017 and CEO, The Aroma Group, Chandigarh, and Mr Babu Khan, Regional Director, CII Northern Region, gave away prizes to the winners. 

The mega shopping festival saw the launch of as many as 400 new products at the Fair much to the pleasure of the Diwali shoppers thronging the Parade Grounds venue to shop for Diwali, Mr Man Mohan S Kohli, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Fair 2017 and CEO, The Aroma Group, Chandigarh, said.

An overwhelming 49% of the 260 exhibitors rated the quality of visitors as excellent. Among the 260 exhibitors, as many as 94% of have expressed the desire to participate in the next edition of CII Chandigarh Fair, Singh said. 

A significant number of exhibitors (34%) who had participated in the festival to use it as a platform to generate sales said that they have been successful in achieving their target. The overall satisfaction index for all exhibitors stands at a strong 84%, Singh added. 

More than half of the 1 Lakh visitors at the fair rated the fair as a remarkable experience and are very glad with this complete makeover of the CII Fair, Singh informed in a press release issued here today.

“CII organizes events which connect with the people for whom it is meant. CII Chandigarh Fair too proved successful in connecting with the people from the region. We are grateful to not only people from the Tricity but also from the nearby cities like Ambala, Rajpura, Kalka, etc. CII will continue to organise such events to cater to the discerning shoppers from the region and help the artisans from all over the country find a direct market through the Fair,” Singh said.

Mr Anurag Aggarwal, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, and Mr Sandeep Jain, State Level Coordinator (Punjab) & Chief General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, had inaugurated the fair on 13 October.

As many as 260 exhibitors had put up their stalls at the most awaited fair for Diwali shoppers from the region. The mega exhibition was spread over an area of 16,000 sqm. West Bengal and Jharkhand participated, Mr Man Mohan S Kohli, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Fair 2017 and CEO, The Aroma Group, Chandigarh, said here today. The event is supported by National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC); Indian Oil as event sponsor; BSNL as Principal Sponsor; ATS Group; GBP Group; SBI and Veeba as associate sponsors. 

The mega exhibition was divided into 14 Concurrent Expos this year.  The exhibition area was 16,000 sqm. The event is supported by National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC); Indian Oil as event sponsor; BSNL as Principal Sponsor; ATS Group, GBP Group, SBI and Veeba as associate sponsors.
