मैराथन से हुआ 'सोच' का आगाज़

 

चंडीगढ़। स्कूल ऑफ कम्युनिकेशन स्टडीज, पीयू के मीडिया फेस्ट 'सोच' का मंगलवार को मैराथन से आगाज़ किया गया। मैराथन के दौरान यूनिवर्सिटी के विद्यार्थियों ने बढ़चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया। इसमें विद्यार्थियों ने सुबह साढ़े सात बजे  पीयू के साउथ कैंपस में दौड़ लगाई। इस मैराथन को बोल्ट जिम और एक्सएस लाइफ ने स्पांसर किया । मैराथन के मुख्यातिथि डायरेक्टर स्पोर्ट्स परमिंदर सिंह थे। मैराथन में फिजिकल एजुकेशन डिपार्टमेंट के विधांशू पहले स्थान पर रहे। वहीं यूआईटी के रविंदर और फिजिकल एजुकेशन के गुरसेवक सिंह दूसरे व तीसरे स्थान पर रहे। विजेताओं को कैश प्राइज, ट्रॉफी और सर्टिफिकेट से नवाजा गया। मैराथन के विजेता विधांशू ने जीत की खुशी जताते हुए कहा कि हर व्यक्ति को स्वयं को प्रोत्साहित करना चाहिए । दृढ़ इच्छाशक्ति के साथ इंसान जिंदगी में हर मुकाम हासिल कर सकता है।डायरेक्टर स्पोर्ट्स परमिंदर सिंह ने कहा कि स्कूल ऑफ कम्युनिकेशन स्टडीज के विद्यार्थियों और प्रोफेसर्स की तरफ से मैराथन का आयोजन एक सराहनीय कदम है। स्पोर्ट्स डिपार्टमेंट 'सोच' को सफल बनाने के लिए हर संभव प्रयास करेगा।सोच के कोऑर्डिनेटर व एससीएस के प्रोफेसर जयंत नारायण ने खुशी जाहिर करते हुए कहा कि इस मैराथन से न सिर्फ हमने 'सोच' की शुरुआत की बल्कि विद्यार्थियों को सेहतमंद रहने के लिए जागरूक भी किया । मैराथन खत्म होने के बाद सभी प्रतिभागियों को रिफ्रेशमेंट दी गयी। मैराथन में स्कूल ऑफ कम्युनिकेशन की चेयरपर्सन प्रो. अर्चना आर सिंह भी मौजूद रहीं। फेस्ट के अंतर्गत 16 नवंबर को विभाग के विद्यार्थी फ़्लैश मॉब व रैली का आयोजन करेंगे।

Seminar on CBCS at PU

        Principals of colleges of Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Prof. A. K
Bhandari former Registrar-cum-Controller of Examination, Dean University Instruction
and Dean College Development Council organized a seminar related to Choice Based
Credit System (CBCS), Digitalization (Swayam Prabha, MOOCs Swayam, e-Pathshala) and
National Academic Depositary (NAD) at Panjab University, Chandigarh here today.
        Today’s seminar was the first in the series of seminars to be held at
Ludhiana, Muktsar and Hoshiarpur on the theme.
        Professor Parvinder Singh, Dean College Development while welcoming the
participants said that the aim of the seminar was to give detailed presentation to
the Principals and faculty members about various implementation aspects of CBCS and
e-initiatives of the Government of India. He informed that with newer choice
guidelines and modalities in place, PU is all set to introduce CBCS across all its
departments from the next academic session. CBCS adds a new dimension to academics
for the students. Students can take up courses across discipline’s and develop on
their credits at the same time, he added. Keeping this in mind, template of CBCS for
arts, science and commerce stream was discussed in detail.
        Presentation on CBCS was given by Prof. A.K. Bhandari, Dr. Dalip Kumar,
Additional Director, RUSA, UT Administration, Dr. Nitin from the Department of
Economics, and Prof. Devinder Mehta from the Dept. of Physics.
        NAD presentation was given by Prof. Parvinder Singh, Dean College
Development, PU which covered all the contents of digital projects launched by MHRD
such as Swayam Prabha, MOOCs Swayam, e-Pathshala.
        Dr. Bhushan K. Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, Chandigarh gave
presentation on e-content Implementation Process Curriculum in a very explicit
manner.
        Professor Meenakshi Malhotra, Dean University Instruction and acting Vice-
Chancellor solicited the active support of all in the smooth implementation of the
new system in the affiliated colleges. She said that the new system was student
friendly and it has already been implemented on the campus.  She said that FAQs on
the new system would be uploaded on the website and teams of experts from the
University would also be sent to the colleges as per their demand to clear the
doubts, if any.
        The seminar ended with the healthy interactive session. About 60
participants from local colleges including Principals and faculty members were
present.

100 UNITS BLOOD DONATED AT BLOOD DONATION CAMP AT PU
The Panjab University NSS Department organized a blood donation camp in
collaboration with State NSS Cell. The event was sponsored by State NSS Cell, OJAS
Hospital, Panchkula and PGIMER. A total of 100 blood donors registered for the blood
donation camp held at Students Centre, Panjab University.
The Director Higher Education, U.T. Mr.  Rakesh Kumar Popli was the Chief Guest on
the occasion.  The DUI Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra was the guest of Honour on the
occasion. The dignitaries present on the occasion were Bikram Rana, SLO, Madhu Bala
Assistant Programme Advisor NSS, UT., Prof. Emanuel Nahar, Dean Student Welfare,
Prof. Neena Kaplish,  Navdeep Sharma, Programme Coodinator, PU, NSS.
The blood donation awareness corner cum selfie booth was created on the occasion by
the NSS Volunteer. The photographs were uploaded on the social media site and the
event was related to propagation of the concept of Digital India. The photo booth
and awareness corner was sponsored by the OJAS Hospital, Panchkula.
Navdeep Sharma, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Panjab University congratulated and
motivated the donors for noble cause. Amrinder Singh, Sanjeev Gautam, Praveen
Sheron, Anupreet Mavi, Dr. Manjushree, Gaurav Gaur, Purva Mishra, Sucha Singh,
Anupam Bahri and Jeesu Jaskanwar Singh the NSS Programme officers from Panjab
University and Mohinder Kaur and Parvinder Kaur Programme officers from Govt.
Schools of U.T. participated in the camp.
The college and school students from Chandigarh also participated in the camp.

Literary Meeting with Diasporic Female Writers
        Department of Punjabi, Punjab University organized a formal literary
meeting, here today. Two eminent poetess Ms. Surjit Kalsi from Canada and Ms.
Gurinder Gill from Malaysia participated. Prof. Yograj, Chairperson, introduced the
writers and their writings with students.
        Ms. Surjit Kalsi started with her poems. She also narrated her experiences
about Punjabi Diasporic literature in Canada. Recently she has been awarded with
Balwant Gargi Award from Panjab Arts Council Chandigarh. She also focused on the
Feminist literature on the globe in Punjabi language. She also told the students
that new generation of Punjabi is not aware of the Punjabi culture and language.
        Gurwinder Gill from Malaysia talked about Malaysian literature and culture.
Despite being an Islamic country, people are quite democratic and don't follow the
austerity of the Islamic religion. Most of the business activities are handled by
Punjabis and Chinese.

Book Fair at PU
        A C Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a 5 days Book
Exhibition from 14th - 18th November 2017 to commemorate the birthday of Pandit
Jawahar Lal Nehru which was inaugurated by Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra, Dean University
Instruction, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
        Many publishers like National Book Trust, Taylor & Francis, British Council,
Aadhaar Publications, Publication Bureau of Panjab University as well as Punjabi
University, Rampur Raza Library, Uttar Pradesh and Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat,
Chandigarh are participating in the Book Exhibition.
        Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru instituted National Book Trust, India on 1 August
1957 with an objective to spread the book- reading culture thereby creating a
learning society. Since its formation, the Trust has been actively involved in the
promotion and publication of books in all major Indian languages and for all age
groups and segments of the society.
