JOINT ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMISSION,

NEW DELHI

 Respected Sir,

Re: SUGGESTIONS/OBJECTIONS TO  NEW PROPOSITIONS  FOR TARRIFF REVISION  IN ACCOUNT ELELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION

Your good office has sought objections/suggestions to the Petition for the approval of TRUE UP for the F/Y 2016-17 and Annual Performance Review (APR) for the F/Y 2017-18 and Annual Review Requirement (ARR) for the F/Y  2018-19  FOR THE TARRIFF REVISION.

In this connection we submit honestly that The Consumption charges of Electricity, at present, is Rs. 5.40 (APPX) PER UNIT and in various Public Meetings in the recent  past the public did not approve and objected to increase in Tarriff and the same had your kind consent  also. Hence  the increase in tariff, as desired by Chandigarh Administration,  was not approved by the Hon’ble Commission.

It has already been pointed out by public that various other charges i.e. FIXED CHARGES INCREASED FROM RS. 30.00 PER UNIT SANCTIONED LOAD TO RS. 100.00 PER UNIT SANCTIONED LOAD, FPPCA, ACD, ED/SC AND METER RENT HAS ALREADY BEEN LEVIED AND THE ENDING UP COST TO CONSUMER IS COMING TO RS.9.00 PER UNIT.    The Electricity Department is already  charging 68% extra  on consumption which is deemed too  much on the higher side and needs to be reviewed.

IN FACT THE DEPARTMENT NEEDS FUNDS TO MEET WITH THE RECURRING EXPENSES, BUYING COST ETC AND FOR THE LAST OVER 4 YEARS, THE ADMINISTRATION HAS NOT TAKEN STRICT ACTION AGAINST DEFAULTERS WHICH IS IN CRORES..  THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY CHECK ON ELECTRICITY THEFT BY COLONIES (KUNDI CONNECTION) AND OTHER VARIOUS NGOS BESIDES WASTAGE BY VARIOUS OTHER MEANS/METHODS (TRANSMISSION LOSS) ETC.

The Public has long pending demand and suggestion to first take action against the defaulters, collect  money of pending bills, take strict action against the misuse of Electricity which is being added in cost and  FRANLY SPEAKING ALL THESE FIGURES ARE ADDING ON COST TO  GENERAL CONSUMBER AND NEEDS TO BE SEEN BY THE COMMISSION TO GIVE RELIEF TO HONEST BILL PAYERS.
