1968 pass-outs of Chemistry Department recall their 50 years journey.

 M.Sc (Hons School) Chemistry 1968 batch alumni (CHEM-68) met in Chemistry department on 19 February 2018 to celebrate Golden Jubilee (1968-2018) of their passing out in 1968. It was attended by most of the batch mates with their spouses, including Dr Krishan Kant Paul, Governor Uttrakhand and Ms Omita Paul, Secretary to President of India, Shri Pranab Mukerjee. The teachers Dr (Prof) S V Kessar, Dr (Prof) Gurdev Singh and Dr (Prof) DVS Jain, who taught the batch graced the occasion.

       The meeting started with traditional lighting the lamp by lady members of the batch, Ms. Omita Paul and Ms. Uma Joshi followed by Saraswati Vandana. Dr (Prof) Alok Srivastava, Chairman, Chemistry Department, in his opening remarks appreciated the efforts of the batch to remain in touch with each other and have regular get-togethers. A souvenir giving details of all members of CHEM-68 was released by Dr (Prof) Alok Srivastava as President of Chemistry Department Alumni, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

       The teachers were honoured with a memento. Two of the batchmates, Dr Krishan Kant Paul and Ms Omita Paul were honoured for their extra-ordinary achievers of the batch. Most of the members had retired as Principals of educational institutions or high posts in various Government and/or private organizations.Cheques of three scholarships, instituted by CHEM-68, were handed over to the selected needy students of the department.

       Governor Uttrakhand Dr Krishan Paul-Omita gave a momento to all classmates. Dr G R Chowdhary, Secretary, chemistry department Alumni arranged for a cultural programme and honoured the batch members with a memento from their side.

       The alumnus reminisced about their bygone days as students of this department and their experiences as students and how their lives changed post university days.
