Wrong parking in the city

To curb the menace of wrong parking in the city, Chandigarh Traffic Police is conducting special drives against wrong parking.  During this special drive, affixing of wheel clamps on wrongly parking vehicles, towing of vehicles using hydraulic recovery vans and challaning of such vehicles has been intensified.  

                    During this year upto 22.2.2018, Chandigarh Traffic Police has issued 3545 challans for the violation of wrong parking in the city. It is pertinent to mention that during the previous year upto 22.2.2018, 1478 offenders were booked for the violation of wrong parking.  

                   Further, Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals to the general public to co-operate with the police during Rose Festival-2018 and ensure:-

  1. That vehicles are efficiently parked only in the designated parking lots not consuming more space than necessary.
  2. Car pooling should be done, whenever and wherever possible.
  3. People are advised not to park their vehicles in ‘No Parking’ Zones/Roads; otherwise, such vehicles shall be towed away/clamped.
  4. In case vehicle is towed away/clamped, please contact Traffic Helpline No. 1073.

“Make Chandigarh Honk Free”.    

 Chandigarh Traffic Police is running the special campaign- “Make Chandigarh Honk Free”.  The objective of this campaign is “To make Chandigarh, the City Beautiful not just for eyes but for ears as well”.

 

 As part of this campaign, today i.e. 23.02.2018, special campaign were held at Piccadilly Chowk, Elante Mall Industrial Area, Kali Bari Light Point, Pb. & Hr. High Court, infront of Gurudwara Sector 44, 10/16 Dividing road, T. Point between Rose Garden & GH Sector 16, in which 750 Nos. of “I Will Not Honk” Stickers were distributed to the general public.

 

 Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals to the general public not to    Honk unnecessarily while driving their vehicles in the city.

  Chandigarh Traffic Police is regularly conducting special drives against drunken driving in the city. 

Chandigarh Traffic Police is regularly conducting special drives against drunken driving in the city. On the night of 21.02.2018, Chandigarh Traffic Police booked 68 persons for the violation of Drunken Driving in the city.

  As per Section 185 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, offender of drunken driving shall be punishable for the first offence with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both.  Further, as per Section 20 (2) of MV Act, 1988, drunken driving offender’s driving license shall be disqualified for period of not less than six months.

                   Further, Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals to the general public to co-operate with the police, also requests to not to drink and drive. Further, strict action shall be continued to be taken against above said violations as per law.
