Chandigarh,13.03.18-In a first of its kind initiative by an educational institution in the region, MCM DAV College for Women set up an Artificial Forest that was inaugurated by Mr.Davesh Moudgil, Mayor, Chandigarh here today. Set up under the aegis of Botany Department and NSS unit of the college, the forest is a part of the college's innovative practices under Swachhta Mission with the theme 'Back to Nature'. Mr.Moudgil planted the first sapling in the forest that will have over 30 species of various medicinal and ornamental plants like giloy, camphor, murraya, amla, insulin plant, ashwagandha, reetha, wild roses, etc. Expressing appreciation for the initiatives of MCM to conserve the environment, Mr.Moudgil urged the students to contribute for this cause by generating awareness among the masses.

Principal Dr.NishaBhargava informed that MCM is fully conscious of its responsibility of protecting planet Earth, and is marching steadily towards being a Green Campus with its efforts like Biogas production, Solar Energy production, rain water harvesting, waste segregation, e-waste management, vermicomposting and so on.
