PUNJAB CM APPROVES RS. 1 LAC FOR INJURED MEDIAPERSON MUNISH NAGAR

·        SECRETARY PR HANDS OVER CHEQUE TO FAMILY AT PGI

 Chandigarh, June 18: On the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Special Principal Secretary to CM-cum-Secretary, Information & Public Relations (PR) Gurkirat Kirpal Singh on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs. One Lac to injured senior Punjab Kesari TV reporter Munish Nagar, who is recuperating at the PGIMER Advance Trauma Centre here after he sustained grievous head and spine injuries in a road accident last week. The family member of Mr. Nagar accepted the cheque, on his behalf.

The Chief Minister has approved the financial assistance from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to help the family of the injured mediaperson, Secretary PR said after meeting Munish Nagar at the PGI today this afternoon.

Wishing him speedy and complete recovery, Mr. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh assured the family of all possible government assistance in this hour of need.

Reiterating the government's firm commitment towards overall welfare of the media fraternity, Secretary PR stated that government, in the media policy, had taken a number of steps in this regard.

 ROTATIONAL IRRIGATION PROGRAMME FOR KHARIF SEASON FROM JUNE 18 TO 25

 Chandigarh, June 18-The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme of irrigation for the Kharif Season through canals from June 18 to June 25, 2018. The channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Sidhwan Branch, Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab Canal, Patiala Feeder and Abohar Branch respectively.

 Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Irrigation department said that direct distributaries of Bhakra Main Line (BML) in group 'A' being in the channels of first preference will run to their indent. Balance water available will be utilized in Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor in Group 'B' respectively.

 The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and branches off-taking from Harike and Ferozepur head works i.e. all the direct distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in group ‘A’ being in the first preference will run to their indent and the balance water supplies available will be utilised in the Abohar Branch Lower off- taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries/Minors in Group ‘B’.

 

The spokesman also said that the channels off-taking from Upper Bari Doab Canal i.e. Lahore Branch with its distributaries being in the first preference will run to their indent and balance water supplies available will be utilized in Kasur Branch Lower, Main Branch Lower and Sabhraon Branch with their distributaries respectively.

 PUNJAB CM EXPRESSES SHOCK, ASKS AMRITSAR ADMINISTRATION TO EXTEND HELP TO FAMILIES OF 7 KILLED IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT

 Chandigarh, June 18: Expressing shock and anguish at the death of seven persons in a road mishap on their way back to Delhi after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday directed the Amritsar administration to extend all help to their families.

 The Chief Minister also asked the district administration to ensure the best medical care for the child who survived in the accident that took place when their vehicle rammed into a stationary truck at Khilchian in Amritsar district.

 The Chief Minister also issued strict instructions to the Traffic Police to maintain strict round-the-clock surveillance on speed limit offenders and other violators of traffic rules, on both National and State highways, to ensure the safety of commuters.
