MOU signed between PU and Sandia National Laboratories, USA for Biorisk Management 
        A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Sandia National 
Laboratories managed by National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia, USA 
and Panjab University, Chandigarh, this MoU will promote the culture of Biorisk 
Management among the researchers in India. 
        The areas of cooperation will include activities (Biorisk Management  (BRM) 
workshops) and programs offered at either organization which directly work toward 
promoting topics, strengthening work practices, raising human capabilities and 
capacity and encouraging research in improving the overall environment of Biosafety 
and Biosecurity in biological research institutions in India.
        Douglas J. Bruder, Associate Laboratories Director, Sandia National 
Laboratories (SNL), USA signed the MOU on behalf of NTESS. Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, 
Vice Chancellor, signed the MOU on behalf of Panjab University.  Both the participants 
of MOU feel there is an urgent need to train bio-researchers to carry out research in 
a safe and secure environment in order to protect people and environment from 
inadvertent release and exposure to potentially threatening biological agents and 
held from June 18-22, 2018 in Panjab University organized by Dr. Neena Capalash, 
Panjab University and Dr. Cecelia Williams, SNL. 
        The workshop is training young researchers and faculty on basic aspects of 
biosafety and biosecurity to enable them to reduce the biorisk to a minimum at their 
work place. This is important for the biosafety and biosecurity of community at large. 
Sensitization to issues of biosecurity including bioterrorism are also on the agenda 
of the workshop.
         According to the organizer and Coordinator of BRM program in PU Prof. Neena 
Capalash, sixteen people from throughout India are participating. This is the eighth 
workshop in continuation and nearly 90 researchers have been trained on Biorisk 
Management at Panjab University since 2014.

The candidate seeking admission in B.Com. Course in the Department of Evening Studies-

1.      The last date for receiving the Online Admission Forms will be 7th July, 2018.  

2.      The Tentative and Provisional Merit list will be put up on the PU Web Portal 
on 16th  
        and 18th  July, 2018 respectively. 

3.      Admission Counselling will be held w.e.f. 20th July to 28thJuly, 2018 without 

4.      Late Admission to be allowed by the permission of Chairperson with late fee of 
        650/- w.e.f. 30th to 13th August, 2018

5.      Late Admission to be allowed by the permission of the Vice-Chancellor with 
late fee
 of Rs. 2250/- w.e.f. 14th to 31st   August, 2018.

No request for Corrections, if any, in respect of change of category/ weightage of 
merit etc. in the application form will be entertained after July 13, 2018 under any 
circumstances.  Candidates are advised to visit P.U. Law Auditorium with relevant 
documents for removal of rejections regarding certificates of Reserved 
Category/additional seats/weightages under  NCC/NSS/Youth Welfare/Adult Education on 
7th and 13th July, 2018 (9.00 to 5.00).

Candidates can update their result On-line before 24 hours before counselling.

Panjab University Faculty Receives Teaching and Research Excellence National Award
        Assistant Professor Ms. Neha Gulati of University Business School (UBS), 
Panjab University, Chandigarh  has been awarded “Teaching and Research Excellence 
National Award” for the outstanding excellence and remarkable achievements in the 
field of Teaching, Research and Publications. She has received this national award on 
30th May, 2018 in Chennai.
        Ms. Neha Gulati is a Gold Medalist in her Post-Graduation (MCA) from GJUST, 
Hisar. She has 17 years of teaching experience. Ms. Neha Gulati has authored two books 
and several research papers were published by Elsevier, IEEE and ACM. Her research 
paper scored Second Position in an International Conference in 2010. She also received 
Best Poster Award in International Conference held at Panjab University, Chandigarh in
