Chandigarh,12.07.18-Dr Dmitrii N. Gabyshev from the University of Tyumen, Siberia, Russia visited Panjab University on July 12, 2018. The goal of the visit is to establish initial understanding of potential links between the two universities and find common interests for cooperation in the area of student and faculty exchange, joint research and development projects, joint publications, staff exchange, Russian and Hindi languages education and training, Russian and Indian cultural activities and so on. Another possible area of cooperation is law: the University of Tyumen publishes "BRICS Law Journal", the academic journal indexed in Scopus, and they are welcoming contributions to the journal from Indian Law academics and practitioners. Alexander Seryakov, the Director for International Affairs University of Tyumen had been in touch with the Director Public Relations, PU, Renuka Salwan and the Dean, International Students, Deepti Gupta. The meeting was attended by Prof. S.K.Mehta, Director CIL, Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Chairperson, Hindi, Prof. Ramesh, CIL, Dr Shruti Bedi, UILS , Renuka Salwan, DPR and DIS, Deepti Gupta. After the introductions, there was a Powerpoint presentation by Dr. Gabyshev about the University of Tyumen and the Laboratory of microdynamic technologies of the university. The Department of Hindi team made a powerpoint presentation on their activities. Dr Ramesh took the visitor around the CIL. Dr Shruti Bedi expressed an interest in collaboration in the field of Law. Dr Gabyshev will deliver a special lecture on 'Droplet Cluster' for science students at PU tomorrow. It is hoped that this interaction will lead to an MoU soon.

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has issued certain important instructions for the forthcoming conducting the test of B.Ed.(Chandigarh) – 2018 to be held on July 14, 2018 at PU Campus. As many as 790 candidates will be appearing for the test. As many as 3 centres have been set up to conduct entrance examination.

Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh informed that the students have been asked to reach their respective test centres at least 30 minutes before the start of the test. No candidate reporting 15 minutes after the start of the test would be allowed to sit for the test. The candidates must bring their admit card with them, otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the test centre. The candidates must bring only black/blue ball pens with them for answering the questions. 50 minutes extra will be given to the visually handicapped/person with disability(PwD). No candidate would be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before the expiry of the time allowed for the examination. The candidates must write their roll numbers on their Question Booklet and on the Answer Sheet exactly as given in the provisional Admit Card. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. Change of centre is also not permitted. Carbon copy of OMR is to be taken away by the candidates after the test is over. The candidates are not permitted to carry any telecommunication equipment such as mobile phone etc. inside the examination hall. University is not responsible for loss of such equipment placed outside the examination centre.

Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has issued certain important instructions for the forthcoming test of PULEET-2018 to be held on July 15, 2018 at PU Campus and SSG PU Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur. As many as 415 candidates will be appearing for the test. As many as 3 centres have been set up to conduct entrance examination.

Prof. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, Chandigarh informed that the students have been asked to reach their respective test centres at least 25 minutes before the start of the test. No candidate reporting 15 minutes after the start of the test would be allowed to sit for the test. 30 minutes extra will be given to the visually handicapped/person with disability(PwD). The candidates must bring their Provisional E-Admit cards with them, otherwise they will not be allowed to enter the test centre.

The candidates must bring only black gel pens with them for answering the questions. The use of calculators will not be allowed. No candidate would be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before the expiry of the time allowed for the examination.

The candidates should write their roll numbers on their Question Booklet and on the Answer Sheet exactly as given in the provisional E-Admit Card and only at the spaces provided for the purpose. There will be negative marking i.e. 25% marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. Change of centre is also not permitted. The University will provide Logarithmic table. Borrowing of log table or other material is not allowed. The candidates are not permitted to carry any telecommunication equipment such as mobile phone, pager, wireless set, cordless phone etc. inside the examination hall. University is not responsible for loss of such equipment placed outside the examination centre. The unfairmeans in this regard will strictly lead to disqualification from this examination.

Prof. K VijayRaghavan Visits CRIKC Institutes

Prof. K VijayRaghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to Government of India and a don of Indian Science, is visiting Panjab University, Chandigarh and CSIR-IMTECH to assess the progress being made by Chandigarh Region Innovation & Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) and look at the possibility of adopting this model for ‘University-National Research Laboratory (U-NRL) Hub’ (North-western region). Ten U-NRL hubs have been envisaged in India by the office of PSA to strengthen the research ecosystem of the universities. Prof. Raghavan is also keen to apprise himself about the activities of DST-Centre for Policy Research (CPR) at Panjab University, which has been established to promote industry-academia collaborations in the domain of research and development of technologies. The presentations on CRIKC, DST-CPR and U-NRL Hubs will be made in Panjab University. At CSIR-IMTECH, Prof. Raghavan will be interact with heads of universities and national research laboratories as well as with MDs/CEOs of various corporate houses and industries. The member institutes of CRIKC will also display myriad of technologies (commercialized or ready for commercialization) at CSIR-IMTECH.

Prof. Arun K. Grover, Vice Chancellor (VC), Panjab University, Chandigarh
launched the 5th Edition of ‘Jawan Tarang’, an annual magazine of the Department of
Youth Welfare, here today.
In his inaugural address, the VC appreciated the efforts of the Department for
the uninterrupted publication of the magazine from last five years. He added that the
magazine is a part of the attempt to develop the creative skills of the students as it
works as a unique platform for young writers where they can express their thoughts and
share their experiences in the society. He also appreciated the contribution of
students from affiliated colleges, constitute colleges and department of the
University.
The VC informed that during the later part of this month there will be a
function at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi where PU will be giving presentation on
Innovative Practices in the recent years at PU. He added that efforts be made by Youth
Welfare & Sports Department of PU to highlight their achievements in this
presentation. He stressed that large number of academic events taking place in the
University facilitate the exposure to frontiers of knowledge in every subject and the
same gets disseminated to a larger section of the society. He urged to enhance the
participation of colleges in various events of University.
Dr. Meena Seth Pajni, Editor of the Magazine while expressing her gratitude to
the VC in facilitating the publication of the Magazine. She said that this Magazine
is a creative and innovative compilation of various events during the year. She added
that it is a mirror of youth activities.
