Chandigarh, Aug 14–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has supported the principle of one nation-one election, and said that it would be possible only with the consent of all political parties and an amendment in the Constitution. The BJP is ready for this, he added.
The Chief Minister was interacting with mediapersons at the residence of Director, Haryana Scheduled Castes and Finance Development Corporation, Mr Sukhbir Chandolia, in Bohar village of Rohtak district. The Minister of State for Cooperation, Mr. Manish Kumar Grover, was also present on this occasion.
Mr Manohar Lal said this would provide relief from financial burden caused by holding elections again and again. Apart from this, development works also got affected and delayed due to imposition of the Code of Conduct during the elections.
The plan to hold elections together could become possible in 2024 if all political parties extend cooperation. The BJP is ready for simultaneous elections in the state.
Replying to a question, Mr. Manohar Lal said all arrangements had been made for holding municipal corporation elections. Elections could be held after the completion of wardbandi in Sonipat Municipal Corporation. The BJP is ready and the party would contest the elections on party symbol.
Replying to another question, the Chief Minister said the BJP had emerged as a strong party in old Rohtak. Having seen the governance of all political parties, the people would make BJP victorious in the ensuing elections, he added.
