CHANDIGARH: 15 AUGUST-The Air wing NCCIndependence-Day contingent, which today was adjudged the“2ndbest marching contingent” among that participated in this year’s parade, had undergone a grueling practice schedule spanning nearly five hours a day.

Wing Commander M R Pandeya CO Air wing NCC Chandigarh congratulated the contingent for its “excellent performance and for bringing proud moments to the unit. He Commended Junior Warrant Officer Rajesh Kumar and Sergeant OS Fauzdar who shaped up the contingentso “perfectly” that it could achieve the Best Marching Contingent Trophy.

The practice schedule and preparation ahead of the I-Day was not easy. Those eligible for selection had to be strong and motivated.The daily practice schedule would start with rigorous physical training. The marching practice was conducted under the supervision of Air Force Skilled Ground Training instructors from 8 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. Special sessions of motivation were also thrown in, saidJWO Rajesh Kumar.

The Airwing NCC contingent this year comprised 25 Cadets Including 13 girl cadets and was led by Cadet SahilChahal, said Instructor Sergeant Fauzdar.
