Chandigarh,August 17, 2018-NCC Group Chandigarh under the aegis of P,H,HP &Chd NCC Directorate today established its position as the premier shooting group in the country by conducting the most successful ever “NCC Inter State directorate shooting championship” here which witnessed overwhelming participation by 17 NCC Directorates across the country. Brigadier RS Thakur, Group Commander, NCC Group Chandigarh on behalf of Major General RS Mann VSM, ADG presided over the prize distribution ceremony at the NCC School Ropar. Speaking on the occasion, he said that “the first aim of NCC is to encourage shooting as a sporting discipline and giving shooters their due”. NCC is craving to take shooting to the next level by creating world class facilities for the cadets. Brigadier RS Thakur said it was heartening that 281 shooters had competed for honours in different events in the championship which was conducted from 07 Aug to 17 Aug 2018 at Patiala-ki-RaoShooting Range, Sector 25, Chandigarh. "Much fresh talent which will distinguish itself in the days ahead has been discovered today", he added. Brig Thakur applauded the efforts putin by all directorates, Officers, and PI Staff put to train the cadets with an aim to put the cadets at National and International Shooting Arena. He said that NCC with the support of the Centre and State governments would promote shooting by creating world class shooting infrastructure, providing need based specialized training and holding quality competitions to produce ace marksmen. The West Bengal & Sikkim NCC Directorate won the overall championship trophy by winning 04 Gold,04 Silver and 01 Bronze. Maharashtra Directorate stood second by winning 02 Silver & 03 Bronze and the third position was taken by Karnataka and Goa Directorate by winning 01 Gold, 01 Silver & 01 Bronze. Brigadier Roveen, Deputy Director General of P,H,HP&Chd Directorate NCC and Col Dhaliwal were present.
