The two day “PGI ALUMNI CME and PROF. P K DEVI ORATION” began today in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Around 150 alumni of the department attended the meet. Prof. Vanita Suri, Head, Dept. of Obst. & Gynecology welcomed the senior teachers of the department; Dr. Sarala Gopalan, Dr. Indu Gupta, Dr. Kala Vasishta, Dr. Sarla Malhotra and Dr. Lakhbir Dhaliwal and all the alumni.

The scientific program began with an elaborative introduction of the delegates. Dr. Sanjib Mukhopadhyay from Kolkata spoke on “Irrationalities in Obstetric practice”. Prof. Sukumar Barik spoke on “The responsibilities of a doctor during residency”. He emphasized on communication skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Very interesting feature of the meet was the presentation on “PGI in 80’s and Now”.

The program ended with a group photograph of the all the alumni. The Oration ceremony will be held tomorrow. The main highlight of the programme will be talk by Dr. K. Vijay Raghavan on “Genomics and human health: what could an Indian initiative look like?”
