CHANDIGARH,24.09.18-Prof. Sanjay Bhadada , PGI, Chandigarh has beeb awarded SPS Teotia oration at annual conference of ISBMR (Indian Society for Bone and Mineral Research) held in New Delhi. Dr. Bhadada received this award for his seminal work on primary hyper parathyroidism. Dr Bhadada made online registry for primary hyperparathyroidism patients with the name of ‘Indian PHPT Registry’ (www.indianphptregistry.com). This is the first online Indian registry in any endocrine disorder. In this online Indian PHPT registry, initially 4 centers participated from various parts of country. These four Centers were PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS New Delhi, Indira Gandhi PGI Kolkata and Fortis hospital, Jaipur. Currently, in this registry 13 centers are entering their data. Data from the Indian PHPT registry from all over the country showed that this disease is symptomatic contrary to western countries. Common symptoms were bone pains, renal stones, pancreatitis and fractures. This registry is helping in understanding the natural history of Primary hyperparathyroidism of Indian patients.
