Chandigarh,21`.10.18-The Inter Club Golf Championship which is an annual event was played at the Chandigarh Golf Club on 21stOctober. A total of five teams played namely Panchkula Golf Club, SEPTA Chandimandir, KEPTA Ambala, BETA Patiala and Chandigarh Golf Club. CGC President Birinder Singh Gills said “this tournament is conducted to promote camaraderie and understanding amongst the senior Army officers and officers from civil and allied civil services from the region”.

Each team was represented by 20 players, 18 men and 2 Ladies, five players from each of the four categories (handicap 0-6, handicap 7 – 12, handicap 13-18, above 75 years). The best 4 cards of each team were counted to calculate the winning team.

The Chandigarh Golf Club Team won the Championship with a team best score of 172 points played by the four best players of the team namely GS Ruppal (45points), Hazel Chauhan (44 points), JS Sandhawalia (42 points) and Ashwani Sharma (41 points). Panchkula Golf Club and Chandigarh Golf Club both had identical scores of 172 points but the Chandigarh Golf Club won this championship due to the better back 6 score.

In addition to this there were prizes in each category. In the gross category Saurabh Singh Mangat was the winner (74).

In the 0-6 handicap category Lakhmehar Pardesi (40 points) won and Col. AS Bajwa (39 points) finished runners-up.

In the 7-12 handicap category Col. AS Dhillon (42 points) took the pole position while Vivek Sharma (41 points) finished runners-up.

In the 13-18 handicap category Shobhit Ghai (47 points) was the winner whereas Hazel Chauhan (44 points) came second.

GS Uppal (45 points) was the winner in the above 75 years category leaving DS Brar (42 points) in the runners-up position.
