Chandigarh February 16: Haryana Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma said that we are proud of our farmers working in the fields and our brave soldiers safeguarding and protecting our borders. Today, our farmers have set new dimensions in the field of agriculture by way of adopting latest techniques, he added.

Mr Ram Bilas Sharma was speaking as a Chief Guest in the 4th agri leadership summit 2019 being organized at India International Horticulture Market at Gannaur in district Sonipat today. Expressing condolences on the martyrdom of brave jawans of CRPF in Avantipore area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, he said that we are proud on the bravery and supreme sacrifice of our soldiers and would not let their sacrifice go in vain.

Mr Sharma said that three farmers of the State have been honoured with prestigious Padama Shri Award which a matter of pride. During the last four-and-a-half years, two time increase has been made in the crop price of farmers. The rate of Bajra has increased from Rs 990 per quintal to Rs 1950 per quintal; he said adding that Haryana is the first state in the county to give highest price of sugarcane.

The Education Minister said that be it the hailstorm in the year 2015 or attack of white fly on cotton, the present State Government has given compensation amounting to Rs 2600 crore to the affected farmers which is highest so far. The Centre Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal have been taking effective steps for the welfare of farmers. The scheme like Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana is a boon for the farmers, he added.

Speaking on this occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr Kanwar Pal said that the Government has given due honour to the farmers. He said that today our children are getting engaged in business of cattle rearing and said that it should be made a part of farming. He also stressed the need of adopting mixed farming by the farmers so as to enhance their income. He congratulated the farmers for participating in agri leadership summit and urged them to refrain from burning crop residue in the fields.

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar said that today we are fast progressing towards making agriculture a profitable business. Various unique initiatives have been taken in this direction. He said that we have also decided to give Krishi Ratan Award to 25 farmers of the State. The Central Government too has recognized the farmers of Haryana for their outstanding work in the field of agriculture and honoured three farmers of the State with Padma Shri Award. He said that we want to ensure that farmers of the State meet the demand of milk, fruits, flowers and vegetable of Delhi. Therefore, we are developing a flower mandi in Gurugram.

Transport Minister Mr Krishan Lal Panwar said that Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal have implemented various welfare schemes for the farmers. He said that 44,000 farmers in the State are being given electricity connections.

Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj said that earlier the biggest problem for us was that the farmer’s son was not willing to do farming but today we are working towards making agriculture a profitable venture.

First Haryana Kisan Ratna award will be given to Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University.

Chandigarh, February 16- Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar said that the first Haryana Kisan Ratna award will be given to Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. The President, Mr Ram Nath Kovind will confer this award to the University during the closing ceremony of 4th Agri Summit on February 17 in Gannaur, Sonipat .

He told that Haryana Agricultural University has done a great job in the field of agricultural revolution in Haryana and the committee constituted for the award has taken this decision. Under this award

Rs five lakh and a citation will be given. This award has been instituted by the State Government for farmers and individuals, institutes and scientists working in the area of agriculture and farmers' welfare as a Lifetime Achievement award.

Mr Dhakhar said that the State Government has decided to confer Haryana Kirshi Ratna award for doing outstanding work in 25 different crops including paddy, millet, fish farming, production and others. Harvindra was awarded on Feb 16 for improving the quality of potato seeds for horticulture. Rs One lakh and a citation is being given as a reward.

Haryana Election Department

Chandigarh, February 16 - Haryana Election Department has decided to organise special camps in all the polling stations of the state on February 23 and 24, 2019 for the convenience of the youth, who have completed 18 years of age on January 1, 2019 and those voters who have been left out for some reason to apply for voter cards.

Giving details about this, a spokesman of the department said that all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the state will be present on January 23 and 24, 2019, at their respective polling station with a copy of the current voter list published on January 31, 2019. In order to include names of those youth which are missing from the list, BLOs will help them to fill Form 6 and complete all other formalities.

He said that the youth will have to go to his nearest polling station with only two passport size photographs and residential proof to fill Form No.6. He said that the youth can apply online also by visiting www.nvsp.in and toll-free number 1950 could also be contacted for more information.

Non Practicing Allowance (NPA)

Chandigarh February 16: Haryana Government has decided to revise the Non Practicing Allowance (NPA) at the rate of 20 per cent of Medical Officer, Assistant Medical Officer, Senior Medical Officer, Dental Surgeon and Director of ESI Health Care Department with effect from May 1, 2018.

While stating this today, Finance Minister, Capt Abhmanyu said that Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has approved a proposal in this regard. The decision would benefit 272 beneficiaries in the State. The annual financial liability on account of this revision would be over Rs 4.21 crore.

Those who would be eligible for this allowance included government employee posted against a clinical post and actually working against such a post , government employee posted against a whole time post and government employee in whose case there is ample scope of undertaking private practice . This allowance would admissible only in such cases and circumstances where it is necessary to prohibit private practice in public interest. The sum of the pay+NPA should not exceed Rs 2, 24,550 per month. .

While describing this incident as tragic, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family members of martyrs and prayed for the quick and speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.
