Chandigarh, March 25 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi said that in order to propagate the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, awareness programs will be organized in the state throughout the year for the people. Apart from this, awareness programs will also be organized in schools, colleges and other educational institutions in the state so that the young generation could also take inspiration from his teachings.

Mr. Dhesi was speaking during a seminar organized on the 550th Parkash Parv of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Karnal today.

He said that hundred years ago, Guru Nanak Dev ji gave the message of “Naam Japo, Kirat Karo Te Vand Chhako”, which is relevant even today. It means that he emphasized to worship God always, earn through hard work and honesty, and to share food. Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji had preached that a person should live a simple life and have feelings of compassion, contentment and service the people.

The Chief Secretary said that Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji spoke about the ‘Sarbat Ka Bhala’, that is, the good of all the people. He said that the sayings of Guru Nanak Dev ji is very simple and clear so that the person should follow the path of truth.

Mr. Dhesi congratulated the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department for organising the seminar and expressed his gratitude to all the visiting speakers for throwing light on the life and philosophy of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Dr. Surjit Patra, a poet and writer, a recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award, Mr. Aatamjit Singh, a writer, Dr. Jagbir Singh, Professor from Delhi University, Dr. Harjinder Singh Dilgir from England and Mr. Roopinder Singh, Senior Associate Editor, Tribune, also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Mr. Sameer Pal Srow delivered welcome address.
