Chandigarh, July 18 – Secretary, Union Ministry of Rural Development, Mr. Amarjeet Sinha has appreciated the Haryana Government for achieving 100 per cent target of constructing 5,573 km roads under first and second phase of the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna’ in the state.

Mr. Sinha, who is on a two-day visit held a review meeting along with Haryana Chief Secretary, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora regarding the development works being carried out in connection with rural development, here today.

Mr. Sinha said that Haryana has immense potential to work in areas such as skill development, rurban cluster, women empowerment, waste management and water conservation, and in this direction, work is being done at fast speed in the state. He suggested that for all-round development of villages, all the concerned departments should make plans in coordination with each other so that the schemes can be implemented smoothly for the benefit of the people.

Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora informed on the works being carried out in the state under the flagship schemes of the Central Government. She said that under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, 67 per cent work has so far been completed and till now, Haryana is at sixth place in the country. Apart from this, a target has been set to construct 1,54,925 soakage pits, plant 30,98,500 saplings and rejuvenation of 400 ponds. She informed that those working under MGNREGA are being paid directly in their bank accounts through online system and Geo-tagging is also being done of the works being done under MGNREGA.

She said that under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Awas Yojana, 21,000 houses would be constructed in Haryana, of which 12,334 houses have already been constructed and work on 6,871 houses is in progress. She said that under the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission, eight clusters are being established in districts Ambala, Jind, Fatehabad, Karnal, Jhajjar, Rewari, Panchkula and Panipat, in which will city like facilities will be made available.

Giving information about the work being done under the Haryana Rural Livelihood Mission, Mrs Arora said that till March 31, 2019, 100 blocks of 22 districts have been covered. In the year 2019-20, remaining 40 blocks will also be covered under this scheme. She said that 28,889 self-help groups and 1347 rural institutions have been constituted. During the year 2019-20, a target has been set of constituting 20,000 self-help groups and 1,000 rural institutions.

The Haryana Chief Secretary said that 30,146 youth have been provided skill training under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana, of which 14,218 youth have so far been provided employment. During the year 2019-22, a target has been set to provide training to 34,111 youth in Healthcare, Logistics, Tourism and Hospitality, Capital Goods, Beauty and Wellness, BFSI and Textile Sector.

Others present in the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Building and Roads) Department, Mr. Alok Nigam, Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Principal Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Mrs. Neerja Sekhar and other senior officials.
