Chandigarh August 19: Mustakin and his eight family members in village Gadhpur Tapu falling under Indri Assembly Constituency of Karnal district had a narrow escape as following Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal’s intervention, not only their lives were saved from flooding but they were safely evacuated with the help of a Helicopter.

Mustakin alongwith his family members had gone to fields on the other side of the river Yamuna yesterday night when they got stranded due to increasing water level in the river.

When the matter came into the notice of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal, he immediately directed Deputy Commissioner, Karnal Mr Vinay Pratap Singh for taking immediate necessary action and save the precious life of the stranded members of a family. As it was not possible to carry out the rescue operation with the help of boat due to strong water flow in the river and low visibility during night, Air Force Station Sarsava, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh was contacted with the help of Joint Secretary, Disaster Management Division, Ministry of Home Affairs Mr Sanjeev Kumar Jindal and they were evacuated safely.

The rescue operation which was continued till late in the night was carried out by district administration. The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Vinay Pratap Singh appreciated Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) Indri, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tehsildar and Police Station Incharge for successfully carrying out the rescue operation.
