CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal's Cabinet takes charge, work on Guarantee Card will be top priority

NEW DELHI, February 17, 2020-Chief Minister of Delhi Mr Arvind Kejriwal along with all the other Cabinet minister took charge on Monday at the Delhi secretariat. The biggest priority of the government will be fulfilling the promises of the Guarantee Card and manifesto of Aam Aadmi Party.

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr Manish Sisodia, presided over meetings with the Finance Department and the Education Department of Delhi soon after resuming office here on Monday at the Delhi Secretariat. Mr Manish Sisodia continues to hold key portfolios including Finance and Education as the AAP party formed government in Delhi for the third time.

Presiding over a meeting with senior officers of the Finance Department, Mr Manish Sisodia stressed on the need to eradicate departmental corruption by income tax officers. “It is important to take steps to wipe out departmental corruption,” he said. “Setting up effective revenue targets should be our next course of action,” added the Hon’ble Finance Minister of Delhi. Apart from this, there was a meeting with the officials of the education department where Mr Sisodia gave several instructions including speeding up the work of two new universities and repairing the outer wall of all the schools.

After resuming the charge Cabinet Minister Mr Kailash Gahlot said, " CM's Guarantee Card will be his priority and at the same time, the government will work on further strengthening Delhi's transport system."

Cabinet Minister Shri Satyendar Jain said, "Fulfilling the targets of the Aam Aadmi Party's manifesto will be my priority along with the Guarantee card. I will also work hard to bring Mohalla clinics within a radius of one kilometer for every citizen across Delhi. I will also work to provide clean water to every citizen 24*7."

Cabinet Minister Mr Gopal Rai said,"The new government will reach every level of the society and work will be done keeping in mind the needs of the most disadvantaged section of the society. The people of Delhi have new expectations from the new government and people are looking forward to delivery of the Delhi's development model today. People are discussing this model across the country and we will ensure expansion of this model."

Cabinet Minister Mr Rajendra Pal Gautam, "We will work for the development of people from every class and background. The people have supported the AAP wholeheartedly and this is our time to return this faith. We will work hard to make Delhi a better city for everyone."

Cabinet Minister Mr Imran Hussain said, "Delhi government wants to make Delhi a world class city. Keeping this in mind, the Manifesto and the Chief Minister's Guarantee Card were prepared and now the emphasis will be on the fast implementation."

Shri Manish Sisodia continues to hold key portfolios including Finance and Education as the AAP party formed government in Delhi for the third time.

With the mood to not even waste a day, as he resumed office, Shri Manish Sisodia also called upon a meeting with senior officials of the Department of Education. He directed the team to focus on improving infrastructure of schools, and speeding up the completion of new classrooms project. “We have to continue to work on improving the infrastructure of our schools. We need to speed the installation of CCTV cameras and ensure more new classrooms for the students. Effective utilization of the SMC (School Management Committee) funds is also important,” said Shri Manish Sisodia. He also directed the officers to look into aesthetically redesigning the boundary walls of schools and sign boards. He plans to hold a detailed meeting with the Deputy Directors of Education next week to discuss about the academic improvement programs.

“Expediting the process of setting up the two universities- the Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University; and the Sports University should be amongst our top priorities,” the Education Minister said in the meeting.

The main aim of the Sports university is to groom the students who have the potential to excel in various sports. The Delhi Government is also setting up the Skills and Entrepreneurship University to enroll students in vocational subjects which will ultimately solve the issue of unemployment and boost the economy.

Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal allocates ministries to cabinet ministers

• Chief Minister to monitor the work of all Ministers, alongside ensuring direct connect with the people

• No major modifications in the new tenure; minor modifications include water, environment, women and child development

New Delhi: Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal today allotted portfolios to his council of ministers. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal will not be taking charge of any department, instead will be directly overseeing work of all Ministers. He will monitor all operational processes and functioning of all the departments. He will also ensure interactions with the public to resolve the grievances and induce communication between his government and the public.

Dy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia has been allocated the ministries of Education, Finance, Planning, Land & Building, Vigilance, Services, Tourism, Art, Culture & Language and all other Departments not specifically allocated to any Minister.

Shri Gopal Rai has been allocated the departments of Employment, Development, Labour and General Administration Department, Environment, Forest and WildLife.

The water department has been shifted to Mr. Satyendra Jain. Mr. Satyendra Jain will also handle the departments of Health, Industries, Public Works Department, Power, Home, Urban Development and Irrigation & Flood Control.

Among the changes that have been made in the Delhi cabinet this time, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) will be under Shri Satyendra Kumar Jain, while the Department of Environment will be under Gopal Rai this time. The Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) will be headed by Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam.

Shri Imran Hussain will handle the Food & Supply and Election departments of the Delhi government.

The departments of Gurdwara Elections, SC & ST, Social Welfare, Cooperative have been allocated to Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam, alongside the Women and Child Development department, which had earlier been allocated to Shri Manish Sisodia.

Law, Justice and Legislative affairs, Transport, Administrative Reforms, Information & Technology and Revenue, have been allocated to Shri Kailash Gehlot.
