Chandigarh, November 14, 2018: Reaching out to kids from underprivileged sections of the society on the occasion of Children’s Day, Mona Townships Private Limited (MTPL), a leading real estate developer of the northern region, has launched a campaign under its ‘Shiksha Daan’ initiative to encourage residents to donate educational books for needy children.

The campaign is aimed at securing a better future for such children by giving everyone a chance to make a difference in their lives through valuable books. Education holds the key to empowerment of weaker sections, but many children from the lower strata of the society are forced to drop out of school owing to financial constraints. By meeting their expenses on books on one hand and introducing them to the fascinating world of books on the other, the ‘Shiksha Daan’ campaign can go a long way in checking the school dropout rate, thus complementing the government’s efforts towards universalisation of elementary education through Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan.

So as to motivate more and more people to be a part of this noble initiative, MTPL has placed special drop boxes at prominent public spots across the Tricity, like the Mercedes showroom of Panjab Motors in Industrial area, Chandigarh, Chandigarh Club, Social Resto and Bar, Sector 7, Chandigarh, Cafe Soul Desires, Sector 36, Chandigarh and Bestech Square Mall, Mohali, where people can put all the books they want to give.

Acting as a bridge between haves and have-nots, MTPL is collaborating with the NGO “I Am Still Human” to donate the books collected from people.

Urging people to come forward and donate books for children who cannot afford to buy them, MTPL Director Aakash Setia said, “Let’s all put a smile on the faces of underprivileged children by sparing as many books for them as we can. Let’s make this Children’s Day worth its while by giving these kids a meaningful childhood that they so richly deserve.”
