Chandigarh, July 25, 2024: Kurukshetra University Prof Som Nath Sachdeva on Thursday made a courtesy visit to Governor and Chancellor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan and briefed him about his visit to Spain as a part of the delegation of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Shri Dattatraya stressed the need for exploring possibilities to sign MoUs between the universities in Haryana and their counterparts in Spain, which will give a boost to the teachings and expose our students to fresh ideas and thoughts.
Prof Sachdeva informed Governor Shri Dattatraya that there are about 80 universities in Spain, out of which 45 are government universities and the rest are private universities. These universities have very good world rankings.
He said that during the visit, an MoU was signed with the CRUE and Association of Indian Universities (AIU). CRUE is an association of Rectors equivalent to the post of Vice Chancellor in Indian universities.
Prof Sachdeva said that this entire tour was conducted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with the help of Spanish Services for the Internationalization of Education (SEPIE) and the Indian Ambassador to Spain.
The Vice Chancellor informed Governor Shri Dattatraya that a large number of Indian students take admission in various courses in Spanish universities.
Indian students have to learn to speak, write and understand Spanish in about three months. Now the universities in Spain have also started teaching about 40 per cent of their courses in English language.
