CHANDIGARH,09.04.25-The Advanced Eye Centre made PGI proud by winning a rich haul of laurels at the recently concluded joint conference of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and the All-India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), held from April 2nd to 6th, 2025, in New Delhi.
Over 12,000 ophthalmologists from more than 60 countries attended the conference. A total of 15 faculty members and residents from the Centre won 20 awards — the highest ever in the history of the Advanced Eye Centre.
Prof. S.S. Pandav received Achievement Awards from APAO and AIOS. He was also the chief guide of Dr Rhea Bharti, who received the Best Thesis Award and also of Dr Hitisha Mittal who received DB Chandra Award for the best research paper in Glaucoma and others.
Prof Usha Singh also received the Achievement Award by APAO. Prof. Vishali Gupta was felicitated for being among the Top 100 Asia-Pacific Clinician-Scientists and Achievement Award by AIOS. Prof. Sushmita Kaushik was conferred the AIOS Achievement Award and International Hero Award by AIOS. She has also been nominated for the Dr. B.K. Narayana Award. In addition, she was also the Chief Author of the paper winning D.B. Chandra Award and Col Rangachari Award both presented by Dr. Manik Sardana. Dr. Shweta Chaurasia won the Best Paper in Pediatric Ophthalmology, while Dr. Savleen Kaur received the award for Best Physical Poster in the same category. Dr. Anchal Gera and Dr. Manu Sharma won Session Awards in Glaucoma and Pediatric Ophthalmology, respectively.
Prof. Jaspreet Sukhija and Dr. Manu Sharma were honoured with the IJO Reviewer Honour Award in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Oculoplasty, respectively. Dr. Savleen Kaur, and Dr. Sonam Yangzes were recognized with the AIOS International Hero Award. Dr Simar was awarded the IJO best paper certificate in Glaucoma. Dr. Srishti Aggarwal and Dr. Ashutosh Aggarwal were awarded Gold Medals in FAICO for Glaucoma and Uvea, respectively.
