CHANDIGARH, 18.09.25-CNE Cell, PGIMER, Chandigarh celebrated World Patient Safety Day on 17th September 2025 by organizing a symposium on this year's theme "Safe care for every newborn and every child”. The event was attended by approximately 120 nursing officials and hospital administrators.

The inaugural session featured a welcome address by Mrs. Jaspal Kaur (Acting Chief Nursing Officer). Prof Vipin Koushal (Medical Superintendent) graced the occasion, speaking on the theme and motivated nurses to work with precision and care. The chief guest, Dr. Praveen Kumar (Professor and Head of Division of neonatology & Dept of Pediatrics), delivered a key note address and talked on point-of-care models and safety improvement programs which were very relevant to the theme.

The symposium included a series of expert talks on important topics:
* Early identification of danger signs in neonates: Mrs. Rupinder Kaur (Nursing Officer)
* Practical examples of POC-QI Models: Dr. Geetanjali Kalyan (Faculty, NINE)
* Safe medication practices in pediatrics: Mrs. Pooja Chetal (Nursing Officer)
* Communication and coordination in care: Dr. Shweta Talati (Addl. Professor & Joint Medical Superintendent)
* Specific needs of children as patients: Mr. Sunil Kumar (Nurse Educator)
* Managing emotional well-being: Dr. Aseem Mehra (Addl. Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry)

The event also featured a panel discussion titled "Raising Awareness of Patient Safety: Every Newborn and Child," with panelists including Prof. Arun Bansal (Addl. Professor, Department of Pediatrics), Dr. Sukhpal Kaur (Principal, NINE), Dr. Navneet Dhaliwal, (Addl. Professor, Department of Hospital Administration) and Dr. Rajni Sharma (Psychologist).

The event concluded with a closing note by Dr. Pankaj Arora (Joint Medical Superintendent, Department of Hospital administration) emphasizing the collective responsibility of healthcare providers in ensuring safe and compassionate care.
